    How do I install in SUSE?

    Can anyone please tell me how to install the XMMS plugin? I'm using SUSE 10.0, but I've just migrated from Windows yesterday. I haven't really got a clue what I'm doing.

    I get as far as ./configure but get this -

    Any advice is much appreciated.

    Install GCC package (SUSE's default compiler). You may also need to install something like xmms-devel (I don't know the exact name of package because I type from Gentoo =) )

  • If I'm not mistaken, SuSE uses KDE. Amarok is a mighty fine KDE-Native media player that has library functions and wikipedia artists info, etc. Plus, it has audioscribbler pre-installed with a simple username and password feild in the "last.fm" tab in the options menu.

    Yes, use amaroK, not XMMS for Linux. It really is much better. But you really need to install GCC anyway.

    AmaroK's OK but I can't get it to work with the updated GStreamer engine I have in order to play m4a files whereas XMMS does it fine... and I find XMMS does exactly what I want it to do, amaroK has cool features but I wouldn't use them much...
