(Mac) User Experience

Is the desktop player ever updated? The web experience is so far ahead it's silly. I have some ideas to make the desktop version much more usable.

    1. Mini mode (Artist, Title, Album, Artwork, Play, Stop, Love, Ban, Add to Playlist) - This would also have the option to hide the dock icon.
    2. Dock menu a la iTunes (Right-click > Play, Stop, Love, Ban, Add to Playlist)
    3. Multi-tag/Multi-artist streams
    4. Maxmize icon when dock icon is clicked. Nothing more annoying than having to right click and Select Last.fm for the window to maximize.
    5. Make 'Love' 'Ban' and 'Add to PlayList' toggle buttons. Meaning that you click once, action is performed (Love, Ban, Add). Clicking after that undoes what you just did.
    6. Social network integration. Share via Twitter, Facebook, etc. Just little buttons would do.

Can someone on the desktop client team please respond to these requests? I think the vast majority of desktop users would agree with them. Thank you!

  • There's a completely new version of the client in the works, which should be much more up-to-date with the website than the current one.
You can keep an eye on the Audioscrobbler Beta group to find out when there's a beta you can test :)

  • Thank you so much! This is fantastic news! Are the features I posted a part of it, or has that been discussed yet?

  • I can't tell you that, best thing to do would be to watch that group for future updates, that's where you'll see them first :)

  • I understand. Thank you! I have posted all of my feature requests there.
