What's the point in have a 64bit OS and us using 32bit software, heavily defeats the point. Either way, last.fm is making is difficult for everyone really considering how easy this fix is for them. I mean, 64bit is becoming more and more supported.

    Exactly.

I first requested this for Vista's WMP x64 back in August 2008. As it's now 2010, and a fresh installation of Window 7 x64 has reminded that an *official* Last.fm x64 plugin still doesn't exist, I'm well and truly convinced that it is never going to happen.

  • hm. not showing up.... a little help, please

Hi, folks. I was trying out Red's 64 plugin, and after running the cmd line query, nothing happens. Surely I must be missing something. Any thoughts come to mind?

  • Neither I received any sort of notification but after having run cmd.exe with ADMIN rights (just press win-Key, enter cmd until it appears and press ctrl+shift+enter instead of enter) it somehow worked ^^

    I really appreciate RedDragCZ's work - great!

ok got it showing in the plug-ins menu now but have the same issue as gojolleygo now where the properties button doesn't do anything. hhhmmmm

  • Well, for those who are not able to get it to work - please check that you are running that command with admin privilegies and using correct path to the DLL. Also as already Murmel-Ihrs mentioned, using the "/s" parameter it isn't supposed any notification to be showed up, so you can eventually try to omit it from the command and it will maybe give you then some info about whether the registration was successful or not. Same with the "/c" parameter, I actually already dunno where I came with it, but it seems it is redundant and does nothing and you probably don't need to use it.
And about the properties button in WMP - it doesn't do anything in the original 32-bit version (or at least just for me), so I really wouldn't expect it to show anything in my recompiled version either. Just enable it in the WMP plugins menu like if using the normal 32-bit plugin and you should be ready to go, your plays should start to scrobble from now in the Last.fm client app.

This does work, install last.fm, during installation select the 64bit WMP then register the DLL and all works fine.

    Hi guys,
I had been experiencing the same issues like you, so i downloaded from Audioscrobbler's SVN the WMP plugin source and recompiled it as 64bit DLL.

    Thanks heaps!

  • OK. FOR ALL OF YOU WHO CAN'T GET IT TO WORK....

    (caps for dramatic effect)

    Close all open media players.

Install the latest version of the last.fm scrobbler:
    http://www.last.fm/download

When installing it should find Windows Media Player, make sure it installs the plugin for that (doesn't matter which version, it just says "Windows Media Player")

After installation it should ask you to enter in your last.fm details. Do that.

Then download the "wmp_scrobbler" .dll file from RedDragCZ's link:

    http://rapidshare.com/files/249016164/wmp_scrobbler.dll

You can put this wherever you want, but just for common sense purposes, place it in your x64 Windows Media Player folder. This will be be

    C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\Plugins

    (NOT:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Media Player\Plugins
This is the 32 bit version.)

    Press the start button.
    Type "Run"
Select the "Run" result. (On my computer "Restart Runtime" for my ATI graphics card comes up by default when searching for "Run", so make sure you don't just type run and hit enter)
Copy and paste this, assuming your root drive is C: and that's where you placed the plugin (make sure you didn't rename it either):

    regsvr32 /s /c "C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\Plugins\wmp_scrobbler.dll"

    Hit OK. Nothing will happen.

Re-open Windows Media Player x64. It will now scrobble.

The mistake I made was assuming I could open the plugin within Windows Media Player and enter my account details in the properties there, as I had been doing with the old plugin for years. You NEED to have the last.fm scrobbling program installed aswell for it to work.

If all of the above doesn't work...smash your computer up to bits.

    lozzd пишет:
Out of interest, why are you guys using the 64bit version of Windows Media Player?

х64 progs use additional CPU registers, so they probably should be faster (however wasting more memory)
To switch W7 or WVista to ise x64 WPM by default one need to edit register a bit.
