iPod not scrobbling but iTunes is?

  • This only became an issue for me with the update to the LastFM client. iPod scrobbling with iTunes 8.1.1 worked fine til I updated Last FM to 1.5.4.24670

Tried deleting all associations, including some odd ones that have appeared in there. Tried re-adding my account.

This is Mac OS X 10.5.6 on a Mac Mini, Black iPod video (60GB).

  • I had the same problem, and followed the advice given in the thread about regedit (thanks!).

But despite restoring the user associations it still wouldn't find my scrobbles on the ipod, only through the diagnostic tool. But these wouldn't scrobble to my profile.

Yet, for some reason, if I run the scrobble through the diagnostic tool and the right click on account->(myusername) afterwards, it recognises them and scrobbles them to my account. Strange. It's annoying to have to do it, but at least it's working.

For some reason, Last.fm starts looking for scrobbles when I plug out my iPod. Don't know if it has something to do with all of this, though.

  • I ad getting two or three out of 50 plays scrobbling.

    Normal iPod, iTunes 8.1, Last.fm 1.5.4, Win7

  • What about

Sorry I haven't had time to read through but...same as the above user specs, except Vista Windows...and here's the thing: my ipod scrobbles but it scrobbles the last three tracks I listened to through Itunes claiming they're from my ipod!

    Any ideas?

Yeah, I am having loads of trouble with my iPod, too, an iPod Shuffle. XP, iTunes 8.1.1.10, Last FM 1.5.4.24567, with iTunes Plugin 3.0.2.0

One thing is that I started a new profile. In seeing the people reporting new mobile players in this thread, it makes me wonder if something is wrong with the association registry between the username and iPod [or whatever] device number.

I have scrobbled the odd track, but missed scrobbling the vast majority.

Any help with fixing the bug or updating the code would be greatly appreciated....

    Vin

  • I've noticed occasionally iTunes is throwing a wobbly and missing scrobbles. The missing ones get a ! next to them in the library. Once I've followed the instructions and found the 'missing' files, they play happily in iTunes.

Is there any way to get these to belatedly scrobble, since it missed them during the scrobbling process previously?

yeah i got a few scrobbles from today, i think. im not sure if it turned out right, but i got a few. positive sign?

  • I don't know if this has been solved on a mac already, but here it goes what I've been doing the last 4 days:

First off, you have to have "Show application in dock" option checked. Also, I manage my iPod Touch manually, so I believe there's no reason to have it automatically synced.

    1. Open iTunes (Lastfm app should launch automatically)
    2. Click on Lastfm app icon located in the dock to make it visible (dunno if this is necessary)
    3. Connect iPod
    4. blah blah blah iPod syncing on iTunes.. wait till it finishes doing that.
    5. At this point, when your iPod finishes "syncing", you should see a new window coming down from the Lastfm app, asking you to scrobble listened tracks.

bye bye hope it works out

  • I did that. When I hit the button saying 'scrobble listened tracks', it scrobbled...but missed out a bunch.

  • Well I only got my iPod yesterday (not an Apple fan, but the only thing that can hold my music these days), but I was totally unable to scrobble any plays using any methods I've read here, the file required when manually syncing never seems to work, with any application I tried.

I have fixed it though because I installed Rockbox on my iPod instead, there is an option to create a scrobbler.log and then you submit that with an array of different tools (I personally use QTScrob).

Might not be ideal if you absolutely must have the original firmware, however the ability to scroble with or without iTunes and the ability to drag n drop, plus have a graphic equalliser make it a winner for me.

Unfortunatly, if you're using the iPhone, touch or 6th gen it won't work.

    EDIT:

I accidentally loaded the Apple firmware, couldn't be bothered to switch, and started playing. When I got back to my PC I linked it up to re-sync some album art, and wham, Last.fm client found all of my plays and scrobbled them, so, seems its working for me and all I had to do was re-install the iTunes plugin.

iPod ALSO not synching with iTunes?

I have the same problem... only my iPod is not synching with iTunes itself, either. It will autofill and recharge, but it does not sync playcounts or share any information/feedback. The new last.fm client is also, therefore, not picking up any iPod scrobbles.

    Vista 64-bit
    iPod shuffle 2nd gen
    iTunes 8.1.1.10
    Last FM 1.5.4.24567
    iTunes Plugin 3.0.2.0

Is anyone else experiencing that particular problem? The iPod/iTunes error itself?

  • Oh crap!

The client on my laptop updated days ago but I don't use that to sync my iopd so didn't think anything of it. Today my PC client updated and it won't find any scrobbles on my Touch despite iTunes working fine.
Tried a restore but no joy.

  • Everything I played on my iPod today scrobbled fine...except for anything by The Bonzo Dog Band! I looked in my iTunes, and iTunes recognised that I played a Bonzos album on my iPod this afternoon... Any idea why it didn't scrobble?
