Itunes 7.7 - Ipod not scrobbling

  • Itunes 7.7 - Ipod not scrobbling

I've got the latest version of Itunes and I can't get my Ipod to scrobble. I used to use Isproggler but that doesn't support Itunes 7.7 so I downloaded the Last.fm software and I can't get my Ipod to scrobble.
    Any help please...?

Last wont scrobble my ipod since I updated itunes to 7.7 either. Ugh.

    Lawyer up, asshole.
  • Hm, not too sure about guys but I downloaded my version yesterday (7.7) and my iPod did scrobble even though it was only two songs.

  • Not scrobbling my iPod on iTunes 7.7 either.

  • Last.fm app

Mine doesn't scrobble either, I've got an ipod touch, and when I looked at the app list at the store earlier today they did have a last.fm app, but now it's gone... whatever happened to it?

    same trouble here

ipod touch not scrobbling after upgrading to itunes 7.7 and ipod software 2.0...

i have tried re-installing the lastfm application (and itunes plugin ofcourse) and i also removed the user association in lastfm for my ipod - now lastfm won't even re-discover my ipod :(

real annoying.. itunes 7.7 and the 2.0 ipod touch/iphone upgrade have caused me nothing but trouble so far

    ok, I discovered one thing...

after upgrading to itunes 7.7 and ipod youch software 2.0 lastfm cannot longer read the ipod device serial number , maybe this is why auto scrobbling no longer works?

when I go to help > diagnostics > ipod scrobbling in lastfm and press the "Scrobble iPod" button, my recent iPod plays scrobble - but there is a line in the ouput where it says that lastfm cannot retreive device serial number...

I also tried removing both iTunes and lastfm and reinstalling them just now without any progress :/

  • This could be due more to the firmware update for iPod Touch/IPhones than to the iTunes player. Can you guys comfirm you updated your firmware as well?

Well, I think my iTunes 7.7 scrobbled just fine until I updated my iPod touch firmware.

I also started thinking it was because of the firmware upgrade when I noticed that LastFM had issues retreiving the device ID.

I have an older iPod model... not the touch and did not update my firmware. When I went into Diagnostics and clicked Scrobble iPod it tells me "Failed to get hold of iTunes instance via COM".

    Lawyer up, asshole.
  • Just like to add that my Ipod Touch has also stopped scrobbling since I upgraded to iTunes 7.7 and firmware 2.0.

Haven't tried reinstalling anything yet. Is this a known issue? Has a solution been suggested?

  • actually it has now started working without me changing anything.

I have the same problem. Killing and then restarting iScrobbler (after first starting iTune 7.7) has been getting my recent plays to upload for the last few days, but this evening it seems to be completely fucked. I just can't get my head around why there are consistenly problems every time there is an upgrade of the iTune software.

ditto! when i first upgraded to iTunes 7.7, it would scrobble a few tracks here and there from my iPod touch (never seemed to grab them all). since updating my iPod touch to 2.0 sometimes it will scrobble sometimes it won't (mostly won't).

I have an older manually managed iPod running version 1.3 of the iPod software, version 7.7.0.43 of iTunes, and the latest Last.fm iTunes plug-in (3.0.1.0) and Last.fm software (1.5.1.30182). Under Diagnostics, when I click on 'scrobble iPod', I get myriad errors with the following codes:

    {date} {time} 00000BCC - iTunesComWrapper::LogComError (590) - L2
    COM Error: Com couldn't get file path for {artist} {song}

There are many, many instances of this error - I don't know if it is recursive after awhile.

    Problem is Widespread

I don't think it has anything to do with last.fm software. Just iPod, iPod Touch and iPhone's interaction with 7.7. Check out fix here.. MacFixIt iTunes 7.7 solutions

I don't know if it helps with Last.fm software but it put my iTunes and iPod back on track. I'm about to re-install Last.fm. Will post results. Strange that no one is putting the release of 7.7 together with the 3G fiasco last Friday. I'm trying to find an installer for 7.6.3 but all links lead to 7.7.

this is the thread I have been looking for, cause I updated to Itunes 7.7 yesterday, and since then, nothing will scrobble. I use Iscrobbler, and in the first post above it says that Iscrobbler doesn't support Itunes 7.7. Can someone help me with what I need to do next? And please explain it to me like I am 5 years old (the downloading audioscrobbler for dummies version) as I am pretty computer illiterate as far as downloading programs etc. I can't believe I got this thing working back in 2005. It's frustrating listening to new music, and the data is not being received on my profile.

  • I have the same problem - since updating to 2.0 i know there are songs to scrobble but i am constantly told 'lastfm has found no tracks to scrobble' or whatever the messages says - something similar to that?

    Any solution to this yet?

  • If i try manually scrobbling it goes through each song and it appears they all say 'COM could not get file path for'...it never did this before 2.0?

I guess it's impossible to "undo" the updgrade to Itunes 7.7? I want my old version back!!!

I've got the same problem. I've got the iPod 80GB 2007-ish version, iTunes 7.7.0.43, newest last.fm software. In diagnostics I get funky error messages. I did manage to scrobble a few tracks by pressing "iTunes automatically manages my iPod" and scrobble iPod, but now it stopped working again.

How long has iTunes 7.7 been around anyways? my iPod stopped being scrobbled a few months back..

Oh, and in the lastFM software under "iPod", my iPod isn't showing, but instead it says diagnostics/UNKNOWN.

I found a website that allows one to dowload an older version of Itunes. 7.0 is there. Question: If I download this version, will I lose my entire playlist from my 7.7 version cause it's not an upgrade? Anyone know?

  • Iphone not scobbling also.
When I load Itunes the Last.fm systray icon pops up a bubble that says "Preparing for iPod scrobbling, please do not shut down itunes or unplug Ipod." Thats with or without my phone being plugged in.

  • Personally no matter what i do it will say :

"Preparing for iPod scrobbling, please do not shut down itunes or unplug Ipod."

    after plugging in Ipod

    and then will say

' no scrobbles found on your ipod'

despite the fact recently played on itunes and the ipod has updated..?

  • I've got a Rockboxed iPod, it doesn't scrobble in its default firmware or in Rockbox mode. I have the setting to update Last.FM, so I don't know what's wrong with it.
