iPod not being detected

  • I always have to go to the diagnostics window and click on "scrobble ipod" to at least scrobble the stuff I bought from the itunes store which I of course keep on my disk. iTunes always managed my ipod automatically and I tried it with both options in the diagnostics a few times but it wouldn't search for stuff itself as it did before.

do you have an explanation why it actually worked some months ago with non-existing files? some changes like that in the plug-in? at least i didnt have any window back then that showed me a bunch of errors with files that couldn't be found.

FWIW, 1.5.3.45507 fixed things for me. Thanks!

    1. Sync your ipod with iTunes. Once it's done,
    2. Open the last.fm app.
    3. Go to Help -> Diagnostics.
    4. Go to the "ipod scrobbling" tab.
    5. Select "Automatic iPod Syncing"
    & Press "scrobble ipod"

that worked fine for me. all my tracks i've listened during my holiday are suddenly added to my profile. thanks a lot!! ;)

I keep getting an error that says "Failed to locate iTunes instance via COM"

    any idea what this means?

Have you tried just to re-install iTunes and the Last.fm-client on your computer? That worked both for me and for my friend with the same problem. :)

  • I also get the "Failed_to_get_hold_of_iTunes_instance_via_COM" diagnostics error. I've reinstalled iTunes and the Last.fm client. This is superbly frustrating because 90% of the music I listen to is on my iPod at work, so last.fm is essentially unusable for me until this bug is fixed.

same, but i wont get the "ipod scrobbles being determined" stuff. i tried synchronizing for like 10 times, but nothing works. it did 2 days ago, but since yesterday it's not anymore. dont know if its cause of itunes 8.0, i thought id installed it earlier than 2 days ago? ofc songs i play on itunes are scrobbled. bit weird this.

when i do that, i get a whole error log of tracks that were not found on my computer, but are on my itunes.
    sorry for the spam peepz.

  • I thought this "Help-Diagnostic-Scrobble ipod" hotfix is only a temporary workaround. But a half year later nothing's changed at all.
