iPod not being detected

  • iPod not being detected

I noticed that songs played on my iPod now get scrobbled directly onto my page instead of via iTunes. Does this mean I no longer have to sync my iTunes/iPod?

If so, good work! Having to sync a 8GB Nano to a 50GB library by ticking songs was getting a little tedious.

  • When I updated the software today it deleted my iPod connection. Now it won't detect it when I plug it in like it used to. iTunes starts and syncs just like normal but the Last.fm software never brings up the window asking me if I want to link my ipod. It definitely hasn't scrobbled the tracks I listened to on it directly to my profile like you're talking about, it's just broken.

  • Yeah I've got the same problem. I reinstalled Last.fm to no avail, though I noticed there is no longer a LastFMHelper.exe process running, so supposedly your iPod is supposed to update directly through Last.fm :S

  • Yeah, the helper is now gone. Scrobbling is done via the iTunes plugin in conjunction with a process called iPodScrobbler so you have to ensure you've installed the iTunes plugin when you go through the initial configuration wizard. But syncing with iTunes is still necessary.

On Mac, the plugin is installed automatically.

If you want a confirmation window for iPod scrobbling, go to Tools > Options > iPod and check "Always confirm".

but Lastfm doesn't even recognize my iPod like it used to... it does nothing at all.

  • I have the same problem.
Since the update to the latest version, nothing happens when I sync my iPod. Before the update everything worked well.
My iPod isn't listed in the 'know devices' anymore, before the update it was.

I already uninstalled the LastFM software and reinstalled it.
System: Windows XP with iTunes 7.6.2 and LastFM version 1.5.0.24910

Where I can download that iTunes plugin from? I need that badly, for I only scrobble from my iPod and I'm getting nervous due to this current situation xD

I downloaded that plugin from last.fm client and it doesn't work - the process called iPodScrobbler (or sth, was mentioned some posts above) doesn't appear to exist :F (at least it's not present when I type ctrl+alt+delete and browse through current processes) and the window with tracks listened on iPod doesn't pop up. Anyone can explain that?

  • Hi ! Same problem here, my Ipod won't scrobble and it's not listed in the Last.fm sowftware as "known Ipods".

I was working well yesterday before I install the update.

Thank you for your support :)

Edit: I should probably add that I own an Ipod Video (5th generation) with Itunes 7.6.2.9, Windows Xp etc.

  • reporting same problem here. It does nothing at all anymore :(
Thought it was because I got a new ipod, but obviously it's not

    ...using ITunes 7.6.2.9., Windows XP

  • my Ipod just froze and its been frozen for about 45 mins now so i dont know what the hell is going on but its simply irritating. closed the lastfm scrobler and it still remained forzen and Itunes wont even pick up thats it plugged in which is also irritating coz i want to put music on it ¬_¬

  • Same problem : iPod not scrobbled, not listed in the "known iPods". Also using iTunes 7.6.2.9 & Windows XP.

  • My one iPod is listed, but not my iPod touch :(

  • My Ipod touch is listed, but nothing is being scrobbled.

  • I do have the iTunes plugin installed and "Always confirm" is selected.

The problem does not seem to be that my iPod is detected... it appears in the Tool->options->iPod list, but no user is associated with the iPod and I am never prompted with "Whose iPod is this?".

I've tried "Clear User Associations", but when I resync in iTunes the iPod once again appears in the iPod list, but has no user associated with it.

I'm having the same problem. I have a 6th generation 80gb iPod Classic and iTunes 7.6.2 on Mac OS X 10.5.2.

The iPod shows up in the list in the Last.fm client, but doesn't show a user association and tracks are not scrobbled when I connect the iPod.

    I have Last.fm v1.5.0.25618.

  • Same problem my Ipod isn't listed, I reinstalled the software but I couldn't fix.

    I have last.fm 1.5.0.24910, ITunes plugin 3.0.0.10

Sadly, I'm having the same problem too. Nothing is scrobbled at all.
My iPod is not being detected at all. It just disappeared from the list after the update. I've tried reinstalling to no avail.

I have noticed though that my iPod shows up as a drive (E:) in options>scrobbling and I'm not quite sure if that was the case before the update.

  • Hmyes, I just uninstalled and reinstalled Last.fm about a dozen times and I've got the same problem.

  • Argh, I have exactly the same problem.
My iPod isn't listed in the "known iPods" list, so it just won't scrobble. I'm getting kind of frustrated.

  • For all of you having issues with getting your iPod recognised by the software, can you please post the following:

    1) What type of iPod you have, it's version, the version of its firmware if you can find it.
    2) What version of iTunes you're using
    3) What operating system you're on.
    4) If you're on Windows, the iTunes plugin version (Open the client and go to Help > About)

Also ensure that it isn't showing up as a "known iPod" under Tools > Options > iPod

    Thanks.
