Error: Cannot authorize scrobbling, time error.

  • Error: Cannot authorize scrobbling, time error.

    Hi All,

None of my submissions are going through because of a time error. The only problem is that the time on my computer is correct.

The error in its entirety is:

"Last.fm cannot authorise any scrobbling! :(

It appears your computer disagrees with us about what the time is.

If you are sure the time is right, check the date is correct and check your timezone is not set to something miles away, like mars.

We're sorry about this restriction, but we impose it to help prevent scrobble spamming."

So i did what it says.. and checked the date and timezone, they are set exactly how they should be. So i have no idea...

You are certain that your date, time and year are correct?

Make sure that the time zone you have set on last.fm is the same as the one set on your computer.

    same for me, too

I'm also having the same problem..

I'm studying in Argentina for four months, so updated the time zone on my computer as well as with last.fm yet still receive the same error message..

  • Hmm

I didn't even know there was a timezone to set in my profile on here. I went into the settings and it was set to UTC or something similar, either way it wasnt set To Sydney/Australia, so i've changed it now.

As i'm at work i cant test it to see if it works but i'll post again when i get home and seen if its made the difference.

  • No Good

I'm home now, gave it a try, and i still get the error.

Just for laughs i've tried about 20 different timezones, nothing seems to make a difference. (also, what is with the timezones on here, theres a timezone for canberra and a timezone for ACT, which are the exact same thing. NSW and sydney are the same thing too, NSW and ACT are the same timezone too, its a bit confusing and redundant)

Anyways, i still have the problem, i doubt its a user problem.

  • I've just found a stupid solution.

I knocked the date on my computer back a day so it says the 11th Feb and it works.

This seems to work regardless of what timezone is set, seems like some devs need to look into this.

strangely enough, my computer time showed the right time
but when i double clicked to change it, it was knocked back one year..
why would it happen when i double click it?

    ..anyways, look what happened afterwards

Edit- the recent tracks say 365d before lol

  • I've had the same problem since the start of the year. I've tried changing the timezone a thousand times, uninstalling and reinstalling the program, signing up with a new account and setting the date a day back on my computer. Nothing has worked yet. I hope support can resolve this problem soon.

Its dumb, but I took quite a while to notice it.
Now I got it and is working fine!

Has anyone else tried this? I cannot replicate it on my end.

Yes it works! Ive just knocked the date back a day and it works fine. Last.fm guys should look into this problem.

... then he climbed into his space ship and went fishing ;D
  • I did the same and it worked. Ps I am in Argentina too. Maybe Last.fm doesn't know we changed the hour last december?

So damn ridiculous as it's happening to me also. I'm in Sydney (pattern for southern hemisphere???)

The weird this is that it was working 2 days ago and nothing has changed on my end.

I cannot replicate the set day back one.

  • I had the same problem. I restarted the lastFM and LastFMhelper processes and now it seems to work.

  • Maybe it's an A country discrimination. How are Afghani users doing with this subject?

Can anyone help with this?? I've uninstalled re-installed the software, rebooted the computer a number of times, changed timezones like nobody's business (on computer and last.fm settings) and still nothing.

Can a staff member offer anything??

yep, I have the same problem but I'm in the US. I have just moved in from Brazil and when I changed my notebook's time it just started happening. I've already tried everything but setting it for a day back. I'm going to try this now and see if it works...

    it didn' work ¬¬

  • im in tasmania, australia and ive been having this problem, but i think it might have something to do with daylight savings ending today as setting it back a day or changing the year or something doesnt fix it

  • This is mega fucked.

Any fixes?, I've changed everything about 30 million times (okay, maybe only 10 or so)...But nothings worked.

  • Guys (And Gals)

Click on your click in the bottom corner, go to the internet time tab, click update now.

    And Apply.

    Worked For Me!

People who get this always have an incorrect, year, date, or timezone... so far anyway!

Tellingly they are always on Windows too. Macs keep the time synced with a time server, so it can't be wrong.

The best solution is to auto update the time as described by starlighterased.

If it still isn't working after that, we indeed have a bug.

    Thanks for your patience.
