Has global hotkey support been removed from the Winamppluginsetup? I am not able to use global hotkeys to bring up the winamp plugin window anymore, whereas DrO's still works fine.

  • YAY it works...\

Finally! Why don't you guys put hotlinks on the dashboard (optionally).. when there are important issues like this I've been busy with this all day (reinstalling winamp, reinstalling lastfm, changing firewall-settings etc., I only found the answer after googling ' ml_wa2_scrobbler.dll '

Could I please ask you to try it out and if it seems fine, we'll push this out as an autoupdate after the weekend.

    Thanks!

Winamp plugin 2.0.47.0 works fine on my system (XP SP2 + WA 5.5 Big Bento).

    Great Stuff!

Cheers DoctorO.. you're patch worked great guns, and the new official one seems to work wonders too.. I use the client to discover new music so like to have it scrobbling.. Like FijneWIET said thou. something as important as this should have been mentioned on the main page.. as I installed and reinstalled winamp.. loosing all my history in winamp (which i've still not sussed out how to upload to last.fm.. like how!?) But everything seems to be working now.. and wow! you guys are very supportive of each others.. it's great to see! :)

Taking a few cues from DoctorO's post earlier in this thread, we've now updated the official plugin to work with the new method of track play detection required by Winamp 5.5. The new method is used for all Winamp versions above 5.0 and the old method for older versions. This should mean that it will keep working for all Winamp users, regardless of version.

Before we make it live, could I please ask you to give this one a go and let us know if it fixes your problems:

Many thanks for your patience with this.

THANK YOU! Trying it out now.

Seems to be working great! THANKS!

  • fijneWIET, bazza, we will autoupdate everyone who's using it to this new plugin ASAP, so hopefully there should be no need for an announcement.

Apologies it took us so long to notice something was broken though.

  • Yesss... thank you sharevari. I had problems scrobbling from my Winamp 5.5, but your update works just fine. Thank you!

Sorry to be the party pooper but I can neither get the 2.0.46.0 or 2.0.47.0 working.

The plugin installs but I can't access it's configuration window. When clicking on it in the preferences nothing happens, and it isn't scrobbling tracks.

I had some bug with winamp not showing the main window in the Modern Skin which I at first thought was causing the problem to the plugin too but uninstalling/reinstalling Winamp did not help as far as the plugin is concerned (though the main window is back).

    Any ideas?

celsior: the official version for the client (the version from sharevari) doesn't have any config options. the one i've done (basically the old plugin which the official one is based on) does have the config option (and doesn't need the client). so it all comes down to whether you're using the last.fm client or the standalone plugin as to which one to use.

PST: only the one i've done has that support, i don't believe the official client version has ever done that (since there's no built-in config options for it)

    thanks for the plugin!

Just because a rose died on the vine, doesn't mean it lied to you when it was in bloom ...

Ah, DoctorO, thanks! Works wonderfully well now!

  • DoctorO and sharevari, it works like a charm! So far everything scrobbles again.

Just a minor note: the installer apparently does not autodetect the Winamp folder but uses its default location, which I'm not using. Fixing this should be pretty easy, since the location is saved under the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Winamp" registry key. I don't know if the Last.fm client installer checks this, otherwise it probably should.

  • DoctorO, sharevari Bravo!

Thanks for the response DoctorO, are you going to update your plugin to match the official one whilst retaining the config window?

  • I am not sure what's going by I tried everything and it still not working! I have no idea what's going on?

Don't blame them for not checking the Last.fm help first.

I tried to reinstall the winamp plugin through the last.fm window, but when that failed I figured more people would have this problem, so I checked the help section.

    Perfect work. Thanks crew!

PST: from what i believe, the two basically match up (though the release i'm building from has some extra code needed by ml_ipod for it's passing of the ipod cache to the site) as is so there's no real need. the only thing i've got planned at the moment is to finish doing some refactoring of the code to ditch some of the weirder dependancies/unnecessary code (which should allow me to kill the DEP related issue with the plugin on XPSP2+ systems).
