  • DoctorO, thanks a lot for looking into this and finding the solution!

Also, apologies we didn't notice this thread earlier. I will have a look at what method the plugin uses for track play detection. I suspect it's still using that "secret message" technique which always looked incredibly dodgy to me.

DoctorO, it'd be really helpful to get hold of the sourcecode for the reworked plugin.

  • I am soo not getting what I'm supposed to do here, with the dll-file or anything.

    Basically...

    1) What plugin should I use?
    2) What do I do with the dll-file daz had?

    Thanks.

  • As for me, it looks like magic, but it really works! Thank you DrO, you're a real wizard ;)

    Works now!

I can confirm: DrO's plugin did the trick and scrobbling is back to normal! Thanks very much, DrO, for finding the time to fix this annoying issue, much appreciated!

Fantasibrist, what I did, was that I disabled scrobbling from the Last.FM client and put DrO's plugin in /Winamp/Plugins/ folder. Remember to restart Winamp.

Thanks! It's working for me now, at least for the first three songs I've played so far(that hasn't worked since installing the new winamp). Good job, Dr0!!

Tell me please, I should put that .dll file into WinAmp => Plugins directory to make scrobbling working ?

Yep. But if you've got the last.fm client program running, disable scrobbling in that.

Instead of disabling scrobbling in the Last.fm client, you can also just rename ml_wa2_scrobbler.dll to something like ml_wa2_scrobbler.dll.disabled (it's fine as long as the filename does not have the dll extension). This prevents the regular Last.fm plugin from loading in Winamp. Playing tracks through other players now still goes fine (no need to re-enable scrobbling in the Last.fm client, it's still enabled).

  • Thanks DrO!!! Winamp is submitting songs perfectly :P (at least so far)
The gen_audioscrobbler plugin you posted works! =D

Somehow I first thought that my songs are badly tagged as they weren't submitted but now I see this thread. oO

I don't want to say anything bad but this proves again that not everything that is flashy and nice to see at is also working.

    The DoctorO-fix works fine. :D

  • Thank you DoctorO. :) You saved my day.

  • Good job DoctorO, Thanx for this fix!

    See ya, Darken
  • The Doc's fix seems to have worked out for me aswell. Great work.

Hoping for a permanent and official fix soon though. :)

  • Fantastic work Doctor O - you're saving many a scrobbler's life!! Everything working again :)

  • Бля, риал че за хуйня. Не скробблит... скробблит но с глюками. Давайте решайте этот баг...

  • Thank you DoctorO -- it works flawlessly!

  • Interference with lyrics plugin

hey, i also have problems scrobbling while the lyrics plugin in winamp is active. is there any way to make them work simultaneously? i would like to continue scrobbling, but the lyric extension i would really miss as well :(

    great job DoctorO

  • Thnx

Thank you for this quick patch, Doc. I assume an official version will come out in the near future, so we can use the client again?

  • Damn I must be stupid, how do I add the new plugin?

  • Taking a few cues from DoctorO's post earlier in this thread, we've now updated the official plugin to work with the new method of track play detection required by Winamp 5.5. The new method is used for all Winamp versions above 5.0 and the old method for older versions. This should mean that it will keep working for all Winamp users, regardless of version.

Before we make it live, could I please ask you to give this one a go and let us know if it fixes your problems:

    http://static.last.fm/plugins/ass/WinampPluginSetup_2.0.46.0.exe

Many thanks for your patience with this.

  • sharevari, it's working fine ;)
I have Windows XP SP2 with Winamp v5.5 (released 10/10/2007).
