Winamp 5.5 Scrobbling Problem

  • @Pencilpope:
The openingpost was edited by me the moment both a standalone plugin (configurable, without the client) and a client-plugin became available.

The first client-plugins were beta and had to be downloaded and installed by hand. A little later an upgraded version was included in the client (2.0.47.0). It seems to me that that ought to be an adequate solution...

Remember to say "thank you" for the things you haven't had

It is simply not working for me either. Winamp 5.5 with bento skin.

I deinstalled the last.fm software for now, until there is a adequate solution found.

Last.fm-Team: Please work on it, work on a simple installation without any additional downloads - that would be it.
This problem exists for quite a while now and I hope I don't have to be much longer without scrobbeling =)
    You can do it ;)

I'm using 5.5 and the latest last.fm plugin and scrobbling no problem.

    Manual installation isn't that hard?
What's so complicated in clicking on an additional download link and executing another setup. It's not that hard. It's the simplest setup you can imagine.

    About list:
That's for everybody so far. Patience!
For me they now show up. Maybe for you, too?

    About plugin:
That's really strange. For me it works fine since the DoctorO-fix. Are there any special songs that aren't scrobbled or all?

Well, I've tried the plugins, both the version of Dr.O and the one from the Last.fm-Team, but either It doesn't work or I do something wrong while I install it. Usually I'm not THAT stupid with such things... Maybe It's my settings in Windows or whatever. I've both installed the last.fm software and winamp again, too, and then downloaded the plugin and restarted and so on...
I've searched through quite some forums and stuff, too. I really don't have the time to try to fix this a whole day.
So that was why I answered that way. It's time for some plug and play ;)

    Cheers

You can only use one of the two plugins. DoctorO's plugin isn't working with the last.fm client. You have to deinstall one of the two plugins.
And the settings for it have to be set up in the Plugin-Settings that can be found under:
    Options > Preferences > Plug-Ins > General Purpose > Audioscrobbler for Winamp v. 1.1.1
    (for the DoctorO-one)
There you have to enter the username and password of yours when you want to use that plugin.

  • No Configure-ability in New Offiical

    Hey there,

First, thanks to DoctorO for getting this fixed. I had to go a-searching when I finally couldn't beleive my scrobbler was busted.

Anyhow, DoctorO's works simply by copying the .dll into the folder. I decided then to try the staff offered official installer and found that when I went to try and click "configure plugin" so I could see if recent tracks were getting submitted or not, nothing happened.

It simply wouldn't load the config dialog box.

So, I went and dropped DoctorO's dll back in there restarted wmp and wham the config dialog would come up again. So I'm not sure what the dealy-o is, but that's my experience.

Also, how come this new updated winamp plugin isn't listed on the "ye old school" plugins page? Only the 1.1.11.1.1 version is listed. Can that page be updated to tell Winamp 5.5 users that they need to use either DoctorO's dll or this new installer?

Is there a "new" plugins page that I'm missing?

    thanks

    rob

I don't think any of the official plugins have configure dialogues within the media players since they all use the client.

  • THANKS A MILLION DoctorO!

    My title says it all!
I absolutely did not want to install another program that uses more resources (no offense to last.fm because I appreciate their service), so I stuck with the buggy standalone plugin on the last.fm download page. I was dedicatedly looking for an updated standalone plugin that solved the buggy scrobble problem, but couldn't find one. That all changed today when I found this thread. I want to express a sincere thank you to DoctorO for his revised plugin!

    Nothing doing...

I read through the scrobbling help page and this thread and nothing seemed to help!

I have the newest WINAMP version and the tracks are correctly tagged. I also downloaded the newest plugin and installed it thorugh the software.

But still not even one of the tracks I played is shown!

Also no track is shown in Winamp at "Now Playing". But I really can't see why.

    I'm helpless!

  • I have the same problem here, recently upgraded to Winamp 5.5 from 5.35, with an old Audioscrobbler version (it has a great caching feature, which the newer ones lack. I can transfer my cache file to my other computer, which has the Internet).

Boy, I thought the problem was the Bento skin, but even on classic, the scrobbling habits of my trusty Audioscrobbler plugin are EXTREMELY random. Sometimes it has no problems recognising new tracks and scrobbles them, most other times it can't recognise new tracks at all! As such, my good 'ol cache has taken a LONG time (over a month) to reach 800 items - when the plugin works fine, it usually takes a couple of weeks for me. Help!!

My turn to tell about my experiences.

First I downloaded the Winamp plugin (2.0.47.0) which I didn't even test because I couldn't configure it. Same problem with 2.0.46.0.

After reading further in this post, I tried Doctor O's plugin which have worked on the 2 tracks I've tested it on so far. Those 2 tracks weren't picked up by the official plugin. And they were scrobbled on to the site too.

I'm using Winamp 5.5 build 1640 on Vista Ultimate x86.

What I do think is that since they changed the Media Library in 5.5, the media library Last.fm plugin stopped working correctly. Anyway, that was just a thought since I have no idea how a plugin is designed.

  • helpless

this problem has been here all day long. Page shows "listening to my playlist" but nothing appears on the last tracks list, or once in a while after restarting only the first played song.
Earlier even music appeared that was not on my playlist at all!!!

  • I still have this problem;

"Cannot send - Handshake didn't complete" from log.
    Why?

  • i've tried 2.0.47.0, 2.0.46.0 & Doctor O dll, but it didn't work. Winamp 5.5 Audioscrobbler plugin says UPTODATE, what can i do? Thanks in advance!

  • I've installed Doctor O (thanks! :D ) plugin for Winamp stand-alone and it works great with my 5.5 version. There's only a little problem: APE files are not scrobbled. I'm the only one with this problem or it is a "common" issue?

  • It must not be a trouble of winamp version since I´m still using 5.1 and it´s not working at all.

  • So anyone got this to work again? I've been working with this for some hours now and I cant get it to work. Before last.fm scrobbled a couple of songs and then it stopped. The next day it scrobbled all the songs it missed yesterday + plus a few songs that I will play today. But now it scrobble nothing.

    Help pls.

Re:Test build (this is a standalone version!)

    DoctorO said:
well the issue all seems to be coming down to a 3rd message (a internally used one so that fact it ever remained in use is just luck) to the playlist editor just not appearing (at least with the vorbis failure case) and i'm going to guess that the same thing is causing the randomness for others as well (i hope)

the real issues lies (if my assumptions about the official client plugin code is right) in that it's most likely still using the old standalone plugin as a basis for most of it and that's just not good at all to be doing. i know the code used to detect playback on the older plugin is fine basically on pre 5.x installs of winamp but it should have been using the IPC_PLAYING_FILE(W) api notification near enough from the start (thankfully the code is pretty easy in some respects to modify to work with that api).

    http://nunzioweb.com/daz/AudioScrobbler/5_5/gen_audioscrobbler.dll

This is based on the modified 1.1.11 from the version bundled with ml_ipod based on the mod i did ages back. It is a standalone version so anyone using the client will need to disable the existing plugin and all that before trying this one. I've tried it as both the gen and ml version (though there was never any reason for the ml version to be more reliable or whatever the reason was other than where it was in the plugin load order).

If it just works better for some then i'll be happy but there's nothing i can see in any of the winamp code that would otherwise cause issues other than the fact the last.fm plugin is basising it's playback detection on an old and unofficial method (this is based on stripping out all of the common message processing code in place to make things work better with SUI based skins and also from removing all other plugins down to just being winamp.exe, in_mp3, in_vorbis, out_ds and related .w5s files in the %winampdir%\system folder

obviously this is a test build so you're using this at your own risk incase of any random stuff that happens from using it and all that.

Umm.. sorry to ask but.. where it goes? I mean, which folde? I don't get your explanation (bad english, sorry)
