    If you are behind a proxy, you will almost certainly know.
    People should know how to config their firewall/router.

    The problem at the moment doesn't seem to be to do with the client.

    Thank you Mannie1 :) It has been an absolute nightmare but it finally works. (I reset my modem the "hard way" and had to actually re-configure the whole thing LOL)
    But after that, I reinstalled the Last.fm-1.3.2.13b version and WOW, a miracle occurred ...
    I can listen to music!! (even though it doesnt seem to be scrobbling but what the hell)

    Submission server status: OK
    Yep.

  • "Cannot connect to server" message, in client.

    Me and my partner using different profiles on the same computer, have both been getting the above message on our client. We have now restarted our web router, both reset our passwords in both the clients and our web pages, and restarted the computer. The problem now seems resolved.. not sure whether it is because of what we did or not but hope it helps.

    Password

    I had the same problem and oddly enough managed to fix it. I changed the password in last.fm application - but not in the profile! - and then I closed the application. Then I restarted the application again and changed the password to the original one and closed the last.fm application. Then I opened iTunes and no "could not connect to server" message emerged. Strange but true:-) Try it!

  • Mac OS X 10.5 and Last.fm -- still can't connect

    I'm using Mac OS X version 10.5.1. I have tried the last.fm clients versions 1.3.2.15 and 1.4. Both give me the "Couldn't connect to the internet to verify your user details" error.

    I use to run the last.fm client on an older machine (using Mac OS X 10.4) without any problems until a couple of weeks ago. The client has never ran on this newer machine.
    For this reason I have not been able to try the "change the password in the last.fm application" suggestions. But I have tried changing passwords on the web profile to no avail.

    I would appreciate any help available. I would particularly appreciate clearly written step by step instructions.

    I am also having the same problem. The interesting thing is that Last.fm works fine on my laptop computer but on my desktop computer it constantly shows that Last.fm servers are temporarily overloaded whenever I try to listen to radio. Otherwise my tracks are scrobbling properly but I want the radio to work on my desktop. I just reinstalled my internet software and Last.fm software but I am still getting the same message.

    same issue for me. Running the latest version of the client and OS X on a DP 1GHz G4. Cant connect due to bad username and pass. The Console says it's the username that isn't recognized.

  • have you tried to change your current password with a different one?

    I changed my password and simply replaced with with the current one again, if you think changing it to something different would help i'll try that. The OS X Console is showing the error being returned as

    080521 16:15:51 - 0xa0c51074 - success(80) - L3
    Handshake response:
    session=FAILED
    msg=no such user

    080521 16:15:51 - 0xa0c51074 - success(95) - L1
    Radio handshake failed: session == 'failed'

    I have verified the username in the settings and my profile is displaying in the desktop application.

    I just tried changing my password to something different and that didn't help either. I'll post more from the log below, it seems that it isn't finding my user data on your end. Any advice?

    "080521 20:41:43" - "ffffffffa0c51074" - void Request::onHeaderReceivedPrivate(const QHttpResponseHeader&) ( 102 ) - L3
    "Handshake" response: 200

    "080521 20:41:43" - "ffffffffa0c51074" - void Request::onSuccessPrivate(QByteArray) ( 182 ) - L3
    "Handshake" request succeeded

    "080521 20:41:43" - "ffffffffa0c51074" - virtual void Handshake::success(QByteArray) ( 76 ) - L3
    "session=FAILED
    msg=no such user"

    080521 20:41:43 - 0xa0c51074 - success(80) - L3
    Handshake response:
    session=FAILED
    msg=no such user

    080521 20:41:43 - 0xa0c51074 - success(95) - L1
    Radio handshake failed: session == 'failed'

    "080521 20:42:21" - "ffffffffa0c51074" - void ScrobblerManager::nowPlaying(const TrackInfo&) ( 160 ) - L3
    No scrobbler found for user: "adbraun"

  • Pretty weird. From the logs indeed seems more like something got stuck somewhere. I would try to uninstall the client, change the password and then reinstall again.
    And keep the fingers crossed.

    On OSX which files to I need to dump besides the app itself? BTW, thanks for all the help.

  • I don't think you really need to do more than the usual drag to trash, anyway this is what you could have on your HD belonging to the Last.fm client:

    /applications/Last.fm.app
    /Library/Application Support/Last.fm
    /Library/Preferences/fm.Last.fm.plist Fingerprinter.plist
    /Library/Preferences/fm.Last.fm.plist Fingerprinter.plist
