BUG: LastFMHelper keeps Macs from falling asleep

  • LastFMHelper

I don't really understand why LastFMHelper needs to be running at all if you've disabled iPod scrobbling and launching with iTunes in the preferences. Why isn't it disabled by default in those circumstances?

If I wanted unnecessary processes constantly running in the background, I'd use Windows. ;)

Also, the above advice didn't work for me (launchctl unload threw an unilluminating error), so I just deleted the lastfmhelper app. It seems to have done the trick, although I'm sure I'll have to go through the same process on each update of the client.

  • Lol, that is actually a good way of getting rid of it.

I don't know why it insists on running when it isn't needed. Always seemed stupid to me. It's probably just an irritation that last fm built into it, much like the excessive memory footprint and the sluggishness of the client as a whole.

Meh, like I said before, not interested any more lol, because it's fairly obvious that the Mac version is just a big hack.

Never argue with a fool. Onlookers may not be able to tell the difference....

You can tell it not to run in the most recent versions of the client.

Uhm, where do you make that setting?

  • I'm not sure if this is the right thread to post this but i'm also having issues with this, in Windows XP. My computer won't auto standby if last.fm is running. I have to manually close it after i'm finish listening to music in order for my PC to go into standby mode after inactivity.
