How do I prevent certain artists from being Scrobbled?

  • How do I prevent certain artists from being Scrobbled?

I'm a musician and listen to my own demos a lot when working on stuff. This shows up as dozens (hundreds...) of listens for my music on here and I don't really want that. Is there a way to block certain artists from being Scrobbled from my computer?

    Thanks,
    Danny

  • You can disable scrobbling entirely when you're listening to your own stuff, then enable it when you go back to regular listening. Just click the icon in the bottom right of the window to toggle scrobbling on/off.

in the non beta client you can in/exclude directories to be scrobbled.

You can use Combo.fm to build a radio station. Combo.fm will let you exclude things such as artists and tags.

EDIT: Oops, too early in the morning for me - I missed the part that you want to not scrobble yourself from Your computer. Combo.fm will work for what's scrobbled from Last.fm. See the suggestions above to block plays you play on your own computer.

    Music, like language, is universal.

A decent enough solution although I always forget! Ideally it would just be seamless.

I'm still using the 1.5 client on my Mac because all the other ones don't run well or waste a lot of system memory. I'm assuming my client just doesn't have this feature? I can't find it.

  • Also, this would let me prevent podcasts from being scrobbled, which I, too, find annoying.

it probably is in that client.
