trying to find SOMETHING that will work with the Last.fm client

  • trying to find SOMETHING that will work with the Last.fm client

    How do I -
    1. play my Last.fm stations using VLC

    OR
    2. play them with Foobar2000 0.9

I have WMP installed, do I need to disable something in order for VLC or Foobar to work properly??

  • link didn't work

Took me to a Google search result, not to a specific web page

it did work because I was intending to point you to those search results, albeit fruitlessly it seems.

With the Last.fm Client application open, go to Tools => Get Plugin... and follow the set-up guide as per it's instructions. For your media player, you should then find that you have "plugin installed", if it is installed.

  • how do I control which player is being used, WMP or Foobar?

I understand how to get plugins ... my question is, if I have WMP and Foobar installed on my computer, how do I tell the Last.fm client which player to use? I can't find any controls in the client menus that will let me set WMP or Foobar as the player to use.

Why ask for help and then not bother to read the links given to you that answer your question? The answer is in those google results, maybe even in the first one.

Or are you now not trying to stream the radios, as your last post seems to suggest?

Check this FAQ, and let us know if it helps: Which media players does the Last.fm Scrobbler support?

  • Thanks anyway

This is a waste of time. I wouldn't be here if I hadn't already spent hours on fruitless searches.
    I'm going back to Pandora.

Babs, Kio, thanks for your positive attitudes.

You know the answer is STILL in that google page I linked that you can't be arsed to read...

Unreal. You're given the answer and then declare it too difficult to find.

  • 9,000,000 pages I'm supposed to read?

AS I said earlier, your link led to a Google search, with over 9000000 hits.

Perhaps if the "answer" is buried in there, and you know where to find it, you could copy and paste some text in here.

This forum apparently has no rules about offensive language or flaming.

I asked for help, not snarky comments.

And I gave you help which you couldn't be bothered to help yourself to.

The answer is on that first page, probably even in the first result. The VERY FIRST result is "Stream in external player – Last.fm Client Support – Last.fm" but that's apparently just too difficult for you.

There are rules about language, none of which were broken. I don't think anyone has even sworn. As for flaming....this really isn't it.

Why expect to be spoon fed?

  • The "very first result" is for Macintosh ... I use Windows.

And <<you can't be arsed to read>> I do actually find that offensive

Anyway, have a good life ....

You still can't be bothered. The mac thread tells you how to do it.

"I am trying out the "Stream in external player" in the Last.fm 1.4.2 client player for Mac OS X. I have set the port to 1710 and can tune in to that locally in iTunes with http://localhost:1710."

"It's Last.fm client that is listening, and media player connects to the socket (localhost:xxxx) specified, not the other way around.

I simply typed http://localhost:xxxx (where xxxx is the port number of Your choice) and it worked fine, I have tried it in Windows Media Player 11, Winamp, and foobar2000, and there's no problem, of course You have to start a station first before getting Your player connect to that socket."

It is up to you what you find offensive, has no bearing on me or anyone else and what we should or shouldn't do.

    Spoon fed :/

  • Kio, time to remove this thread

Now see, was it THAT hard to actually provide some help rather than making yourself look like even more of a prat?

Kio, perhaps you should delete this thread from the forum ... it's embarassing to Last.fm, I should think

Those pages have been in this thread for over a week...that reflects far more on you than me. Far more. Learn to help yourself when someone gives you information.

Don't even bother with thankyou eh, and the mods name is "Zio". Back to that awesome talent you have at reading.
