Just can't get iPhone 4 to scrobble

Hi,

First, the technical details:
OSX Lion
Last.fm client v1.5.4.28012
iTunes 10.5.1 (42)
iOS 5.0.1
Music sync off (manual)

I just *can't* get scrobbling to work (since iTunes 10.5 came out, actually).

The Last.fm client launches when I open iTunes. The phone is listed under Preferences/iPod/Device. I've tried removing it and adding again. I've reinstalled the client, restarted both, synced the phone multiple times (while listening to a track in between), tried syncing via USB, via Wi-fi, ejecting the phone after sync, and it just doesn't work.

Scrobbling is on. I checked "Always confirm iPod scrobbles" but it never comes up. Going to Help/Diagnostics/iPod Scrobbling, selecting "I manually manage my iPod" doesn't show anything in the list. Clicking Refresh or Scrobble iPod does nothing.

What gives? I've paid for the CloudScrob app since it actually works, but I'd rather not have to depend on a third party for what is (was?) the core of Last.FM functionality.

Same for me. Scrobbling has been really buggy for the last year and a half or so, but since the newest itunes software upgrade it has stopped completely.

I think it might be because my iPod won't sync it's plays when connected to iTunes, like when I disconnect it, and start listening again, I can start off where I left off unlike previously when I connected and disconnected it started over. Unfortunately I don't know how to disable that, or if it's even possible

Have exactly the same issue on both PC and MAC.. I thought there was something wrong with my settings.. have tried everything..

Good to know it's most likely not my fault! :D

same problem, latest updates for everything, brand new ipod, always get an error. Very frustrating!!

my iPod Touch 4th gen hasn't scrobbled since being upgraded to iOS 5

really disappointed by the lack of support here from Last.fm

I've found a solution. I've installed the app Music+ and now it scrobbles live!!!

Please try turning off iCloud backup, and sync over wi-fi if you have them enabled.
