  • Awesome! :) Except it doesn't seem to support Asian character sets, otherwise I would use it in my sig :)

  • I love you.

Ive always wanted one of these but when i try it, it all goes wrong!

    *gets embarrased*
well, you're welcome! anytime for you! haha.
    Nice profile too!

Kyuusaku: I guess it doesnt because the font used at my end doesnt have those characters in it? Did you test it? what happened? If i switch it to a font that has those characters maybe it will work. Thanks for trying though!

I did some work on my own version of ScrobblerSig -- who hasn't it seems, haha. Anyway, in my testing it looked like the problem with Asian character sets, Unicode, is due to a fault with PHP and not the font itself. I used a font that supported Unicode characters but noticed that the actual characters PHP was using weren't the correct characters anymore. This really pisses me off because I listen to a lot of video game music with Japanese composers, and since AS uses their native spelling and not the English equivalent, I end up with a bunch of squares in my sig :(. One day I'm going to port my version of ScrobblerSig to ASP.NET which will fix this.

    ----

If anyone wants my version you can get it here: http://timothyhumphrey.name/scrobblersig/scrobblersig.zip. If you want the exhaustive list of changes PM me; the main changes include bug fixes, more formatting options like background images, whitelist support, the ability to specify every formatting option in the url, and improved caching.

    Thanks!

  • Umm...

Do you mind me writing my own sig-creator based on your source?

I mean, I have no clue where grab the code for checking the tracks played, and since your script does it well, I would like to use it as a reference when I write one of my own.

    Thanks in advance,
    -Jarmo

  • I wish someone would make one which works on forums other then audioscrobbler...

This code isnt my own.. its the scrobblersig code which you can find on the Audioscrobbler Wiki (http://wiki.audioscrobbler.com i believe)
But it is free and available so I guess you can write your own based on it.

It grabs the tracks from the RDF feed your profile has, here.

    Nice, Thanks for the service.

  • I want to make it so I can display it on websites...is there an http code for it?

It will display on websites... just use the same path as you would for your sig....

if you mean you want the actual code, it'd be something like
    <img src="http://www.denness.net/scrobblersig.php?username=kungpowbetty">;
    for you.

BTW, if whatever forum/site you're using doesn't like it because it doesnt end in .jpg etc, feel free to add that, as the code is programmed to ignore any extra extensions. HOWEVER some forums just refuse to use the sig, which is a shame.

    Any more problems post/pm me.
    Cheers
    Laurie

Is there some way you can make it have a colored background, it doesn't show up too well on a dark gray background.

  • Thanks a lot :) I've always wanted one of these things. (Not that I ever post, but still...)
