Submissions offline for a couple of hours due to high load

503 wait and see. no more of that, had to switch subs off for a while, will be back when we have determined what is what. hang in there folks.

UPDATE: no more submissions until tomorrow morning. for an unknown reason load is extreme only switching subs off helps us out of misery, or the website is offline. RJ and Russ are in the pub with Rob from Musicbrainz, so until tomorrow morning we can do nothing to improve the situation. sit tight.

UPDATE (Russ): PHP is being annoying yet again. Submissions are down until further notice. Sorry.

UPDATE (Russ - 2004-12-01 16:00 GMT): We're rewriting submissions in Java - it's going to be at least another 24 hours before we're up and running again, probably longer.

UPDATE (RJ - 3rd Dec): Running the php system whilst we finish the java rewrite. It's eating far more CPU that it should but we can get by until the java version is ready to deploy.

  • I was wondering what all those weird 503 errors were about. Thanks for keeping us informed. :)

When can we expect our charts to be updated? It's been quite a while.

In my case, I don't think I will.

After playing Let It Bleed (Rolling Stones) a few hours ago, for the last 20 or so tracks I've been getting this meesage at the top of my main screen:

"Your plugin reported a submission error: Spam protection triggered (2004/11/30 16:22:06) dated earlier than previous submission (2004/11/30 16:22:21) (at 13:28:56 ART, Tuesday, November 30, 2004)"

This is complete rubbish as my computer clock has been fine, I can only think a server has time problems somewhere?

    Re: Re: Re:

That's a plugin bug, has nothing to do with your clock or the server's clock. And yes your tracks will show up later assuming your plugin cache's correctly and doesn't trigger the spam protection.

My charts are pretty weird. I got two number 6s and five number 12s and things like that. I don't really mind, I can wait (and you probably know this already), but it seems to me that your 'personal charts generating' scripts are a little ****ed up.

Yes, there have been many, many posts on this. Not that this is the right place to bring it up anyway. Perhaps you could take some time to read any of the other threads on the subject before complaining. Note that the equally-ranked artists are the ones tied for that spot, and it's a known bug.

Given that there was a recent change to the numbering, resulting in the numbering using normal 'tied' methods (if there are 2 tied for #2, then the next after those is numbered 4, instead of 3 like it was before), I'm wondering if it really is a bug now or a feature? After all, why change the numbering to be more 'correct' if it's not supposed to be doing it at all?

I hope it's a feature, as I think it makes more sense to properly list tied artists as tied for the same position then to arbitrarity give some higher rankings.

When my profile updated yesterday, the bug was fixed. Two #14s, no #15. Four #43s, the next number being 47. This also was the case for my songs: a whole bunch of 3s, then a whole bunch of 9s, then 19s, etc.
Since I don't think it has been fixed just for me, I think you just have to wait for an update.

Hate to be a 'me too' but... me too. >_<

  • My tracks played just jumped forward a lot, but my Recent Tracks is exactly the same.

Ah well, at least there's some signs of movement.
