Finding which of your recommendations are in your friend's library.
Would it be possible to put a 'filter' on your recommendations so that you can list the artists in order of 'how many scrobbles they have in a specific friend's library' or 'how many scrobbles they have in all of your friends' libraries'?
This would make it really easy to ask your friends to recommend tracks that you will love in person.
Perhaps it could work both ways; when looking through recommendations, could you include the option of displaying which friends listen to each artist?
You could even set it so that you can see which music in your library is also in your friends' recommendations. Then, you could know which music to recommend to your friends.
this is pretty much what neighbourhood radio is for. friends are not necessarily anything to do with your music taste, and as such developing something like this wouldn't really bring anything useful (in terms of recommendations).
are you not finding the recommendation system to be useful?

I do find the recommendation system useful. However, I also love to connect over music in person.
The idea is that this would help recommendations that happen away from the internet.
There is a lot to be said for sitting down with a friend and sharing music; you can empathize with him or her. The way that the music is presented and all of the excitement that goes into the delivery etc. it has an impact on the way that you listen, not to mention the fact that you and your friend are able to choose the right songs for the moment and for each other.
I often say to many of my friends: 'Have you been listening to any new music recently?'
I'd like to say: 'Last.fm recommended 'XYZ' to me from your library. Can you put some on?'
