  • The "Bring back the old Last.fm" Group Just hit 5,000 Members

All of that in less than two days.

Okay Last.fm, people have made hundreds of sensible suggestions about how to fix the mess you have made. Please start listening instead of making excuses. When a company stops listening to their customers, they lose those customers.

Keep Last.fm for users and Indie artists, not corporate marketers.

how about, change back to the old last.fm or lose X% of your dedicated user base?

Seems like a no-brainer to me... whoever beta tested this site certainly did not represent the vast majority of users.

  • free downloads?

Sorry, I cannot find them anywhere. Actually, I cannot find anything and nothing works. Is this really better?

its interesting to me that the anti-change group has reached roughly 1/3 of the total beta group size in less than 2 days...

(and I beta'd this POS. I left feedback. it was ignored, apparently...)

We told them it looked crappy. There's a mighty 43 page (the largest) thread in the beta forum on 'visual design', with the majority saying the same things that are being said now. We made mock-ups, left patient lists of suggestions, custom style sheets... what more can you do?

The only layout thing they changed was moving the 'about me' text from the center to the right hand side. It seems like they'd already made up their mind, and the whole beta thing was a bit of theatre.

  • same, ogorir.

    Please leave me recommendations!
  • I can't join that group

Yes. I really can't join because when I click to join, nothing happens. So joining the group is as bad as trying to get music out of the new format. I was going to post "How did anyone so bad come into power? Never mind...I know. It's just like where I work and I hate it there too."

Man, and I had such high hopes for this site when they started to allow users to upload music and now just started royalties.
This new layout is going to hurt everyone. I'm certainly not streaming any more new music, I feel like never coming back here.

  • Terrible new layout/ugly/did not listen to comments on beta

All that asking for comments, and this is what you offer? Very disappointing. The new look is certainly ugly, not user friendly, and has lost the old, fun, creative feel. You should give old subscribers the option to use the previous version. I doubt this new 'last fm' deal you have created now represents most of us. As the previous post says: I (also) feel like never coming back here. And I actually will, very likely, not do so as often as I did before --if I use it at all, indeed. I am terribly disappointed. This is a regression, not a move forward for Last FM.

  • I hate this

i just can't see myself coming here on a regular basis anymore... change it or lose it...

    i can't find this group

  • The group is here

Seriously, are the staff holding endless meetings or are they just ignoring us in the hope that we eventually feel tired and exhausted and go away? I'd expect them to give some constructive feedback by tomorrow, not the 'you'll get used to it in time' crap, because people don't get used to crap.

    agreed.
come on, only subscribers had access to beta version. what about other users? we have to bear this horrible new wersion only because you worked so long with this version? its slower, it looks horrible, it's realy bad. you are really going to loose a lot of users only because you ingnoring them.

  • The new last.fm website is really awful ...
    Bring back the old one!

    Totalitarian Alcoholocaust
  • WorldFusionRadio_com,
stop being such a "leader of a revolution".
Everybody fuck up once in a while.
Stop demanding things. They don't owe you a thing.
I believe that there is more stuff going on "under the hood" without us knowing it.
The team wants last.fm to be awesome as well as you do, so they'll take care of things.

It's their day off too, so do you really expect from them to start working today (and change 8 months of work in a single day)?

    so chill, dude.

We seek for meaning because we are mortal
  • They'd be wise to be quiet for at least a week, because a LOT of people are currently complaining because... well, because. Perhaps they read the first comments of the blog post, and then tried the site out expecting it to suck, etc.
I'm not saying that everybody that's complaining are like that, just that a sizable amount will get used to it pretty soon.

    Yes.

For what it's worth, I don't want the old last.fm back. I like this one but it does need to have some things fixed. They rushed out the release (which, in the world of software, is fast becoming the rule and not the exception) but as is typical of the staff, their communication with us will be next to null from now on. I'm actually quite impressed we were able to get some of the few things we've gotten through sheer discussion. Now if we could just get our reply tracker back, I'd be able to follow this one.

  • New last fm design is rubbish. I seem to have lost several hundred plays on my top artists.

    What's going on?

Yeah I noticed some differences in my charts also. Although instead of losing plays I gained 200 or so for someone I'm trying to get off my charts.

Quit being a bunch of crybabies

Don't you know that change of any kind is good?

Moving things around keeps the mind active and sharp. It also keeps the website fresh, because even if the previous layout was... decent, i thought it was getting kinda stale. Yeah, the new layout design has that Facebook stink, but hopefully they'll change things around again.

I cannot find the country pages, though.

Maybe the name should be changed from "Last FM" to "Lost FM", because the developers have really lost the plot with the new version. This is a step backward in almost every way. The layout is terrible with a lot of space given to features that I either don't use often, or just plain detest. You've pruned the best stuff and propagated more of the crap. There's a lot of wasted space meaning that you have less useful information available on screen without scrolling.

Give me back the old version, it was way way better than this dumb joke of an update. It proves that you don't understand how or why your users use the program or the web site.

Sincerely thinking of dumping Last FM and ceasing to recommend it to others.

No they're not. But Last.fm completely ignored us beta testers.
