    i dont like this color...
i dislike it, i want the previous version back!

If you had done some reading instead of forum whining you would had seen the phrase that last.fm has the "paint it black" option on their to do list.

  • I love it ... great job!!!

this interface brings everything back to the 90s

    seriously,
I can understand last.fm wanted to implement more Social Networking stuff...but really...did you guys need to craft everything in this really ugly eroded notEvenVintage look?
seriously guys, what are those eroded bars?
We beta tested the new version, can't believe people did prefer this photoshop-presets layout.

though, I just extended my subscription...since I really love you guys.
That was kinda tough this time.

not sure we should all go back to the past...always look ahead...but please...hire some serious graphic Art Director and make this look just better. ;)

    ciao!

I love the new layout. We can now see what the recommended artists are based on, the 'dashboard' is easier to use and the profile & chart options are are a lot more satisfying update-wise. I have no loading problems (it loads just as fast as any other webpage). I use Safari, and since Safari is much faster than Firefox, I recommend that browser. Not just for last.fm but for surfing in general.

  • The new layout is ridiculous
    1. Why is the shoutbox right at the bottom? You can't even see if you've got a new message unless you scroll down.
    2. It also seems like the 'about me' section has been demoted, thats probably the two most personal things and they've been moved to the bottom of the page (to make room for advertising?)
    3. Weekly charts - I always loved finding out on a monday morning who was where in my weekly charts.
    4. weekly charts have been replaced by 'my library', which tells me what's in my library...well I know whats in my library because its MY library. And if I didn't I could always just look at my itunes.

I realise this probably won't be read by last.fm staff, hopefully these points have been made elsewhere...

Well, it's quite usefull to get more information about the stuff we're listening to, but, honestly, this new design sucks. On the main profile page, it is absolutely overwhelming and you lose track of what you are looking for within half a second...

The old one was compact and pure, pretty useful in my opinion, but this one... hey, why does everything in the web have to became "stylish, crazy, rocky"????

Just leave it... this one got no point.

I love the new layout. At first I hated it, I didn't know where to begin. But that was only because I had the old last.fm in mind. In the end, it kind of ends up making more sense than the last one.

Just keep this layout on for a while, get accustomed to it. You might like it in the end.

well, I'm not a fan of the crying...and I really think that most people will get used to the new layout. It's always like that, that for the first few days everything is bad and ugly but people will get used to it.
I like the real-time charts and the possibility to check different kinds of charts (last 7 days, 6 months,...).

Still, I agree in some points - the shoutbox so far down...?! why? last.fm never seemed like the place for a huge shoutbox/wall like facebook. Yes, I use the shoutbox, but the small shoutbox on the side was perfectly fine.
The Dashboard - the news are on the bottom?! that's not very helpful...also, that I can't see if I got any new messages, except I visit the dashboard...
The small menu that I can open for every song (to love a track, etc.) - nice idea, but I get no response when I love a track...the first time I did it, I thought it didn't work because I didn't get any feedback...
Maybe you should offer the possibility to choose between two layouts for the profile...

  • HATE THE NEW INTERFACE.

  • thnx xerion, this looks very promising... could you release the source code of this modification, when it's ready?

    i ♥ last.fm - the old one!

Just fix the layout yourselves, I'm in the process of doing so. Stylish + Greasemonkey ftw ;)
I'm using Opera, so thanks for that advice, Boris. ;]

And to the topic. The layout isn't that bad, after all. Just still needs a little tweaking. ;) I think the staff could wait a bit longer with the new version's release till it was reviewed and modified enough, but maybe they didn't have that much feedback on the beta? :P
Anyway, I like some of the details this version introduces, eg. the "Loved" icon in recent tracks or the fields under library showing tags, playlists and fav-tracks. These are nice. :) Charts look fine, as in the previous version, but I don't get the algorithm in which covers are displayed. Seems like they appear next to the first track on an album, but I think it would be better to show them next to last listened track, so you could keep them in view as long as possible. ;) Also, they could be larger. Shoutbox looks better, too. I mean larger avatars etc. Good one. :)
Actually, the graphic side of the site is beyond reproach (well, if we exclude that horrible red bar on the top ;P although I can't wait to see the "Paint it black" option back ;) ), but everything gets messed up when the layout comes in. ;] For the layout, that's a big NO. This could be far more better planned. Especially that poor shoutbox. You say you are now more concentrated on the music, but hey, there are also some people in the last.fm community I'd like to keep in touch with. Please, don't throw them to the bottom. ;) Get rid of that useless "Recent activity" box, this alone could provide some room for quick contact with friends. :)

For some issues mentioned in previous posts. I'm using Opera 9.5 on WinXP in 1280x1024, and don't see any blank space (still I get a horizontal scrollbar ;) ). Also, as a non-subscriber, I see no ads on any page.
What I see, however, is a little glitch in the Music Manager link on the homepage. I think you got to fix the positioning of "))", at the moment it's overlapping the link. ;) Oh, and as I am on the homepage, could there be some pointing out my friends who are "listening now"?

    Best regards,
    Mike.

What the HELL happened to the "Play in Software" button for my play list. Now it only plays my Library, I want to play my Playlist. I don't want to listen to songs that are in the library, theres a reason why I delete a song from my play list, I get tired of it. So why would I want to listen to it AGAIN!!

BRING THE "PLAY PLAYLIST IN SOFTWARE" BUTTON BACK!!!!

you want to play your playlist - you have to pay. sadly, they don't get enough money for damaging site, so they want them from users.

I actually like many of the new features, but the layout is horrendous. Please, please, please tweak it to look more like this

    http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m264/michaelcox68/Picture1-5.png

I'm sure people would be happier with that design.
see, now THAT is much better than what we have now. besides the fact that there's still some space wasted on the left.

i made some feedback on the blog, so i'll just copy it from there.
    http://tinyurl.com/6qljll

why are the fonts so small? why are the pictures so big where they shouldn’t be? and why are they so small where they should be big? why is there so much space wasted on the edges? why are there buttons and boxes cluttering every page? where’s the “paint it black” option? why are “recently listened tracks” much more difficult to interperet? why is there a useless player on my page?

and worst of all: why are you trying to copy facebook?

the performance upgrades may be nice. but please, change it back.

  • i banned new look too and it almost look normal, except everything in the right and avatar on the top of the page. if everything would be in the left, it would look really nice. i still don't like that i see other people's libraries.

the COLOR is not the problem. the amount it SUCKS ASS is the problem.

  • ugh I hate this new look.

  • there clearly should be an option to choose to use the original interface, the new one is terrible, poor usability, absolutely no character.. i use the site a lot, but that is gonna change unless someting's done, & from reading a lot of the other comments, many ppl feel the same as i do, so;

LastFM - please code an option to change back A.S.A.P!!

    peace,
    jamie
