    Events

Just a thank you to the team for implementing this amazing new feature. This is ridiculously good. I've just added events, and tested out the recommended feature, and it even discounted bands that I don't like. My only fear is that it *could* be abused, which would be a great shame as this feature is simply superb.

Oh no no, we're prepared for that should it happen.

I've a plethora of tools to hand should anyone even dare think of fucking about with it ;)

It's great to hear you're enjoying it though :)

I have a quick question about it though, and might aswell put it here! Is there a way to see a list of the venues in the country that you choose? I can't seem to find out where to see that information in the events section.

    I like it. Great feature.

  • Love the events :)
I also have a question, are there going to be any webservices related to the events?

The events are all marked up with microformats so you can just use that as poor man’s API/webservice ;)

  • It's a great feature.

I'd like to be able to see all events in my area.

Maybe just a 4th box to tick with "All Events" (besides Events I'm Attending, Friends' Events and Recommended Events (based on my profile))

Besides that, great work you did
    thanks

That's pretty cool, and I hadn't noticed but there is an RSS feed but I was looking at audioscrobbler.net instead of the events page where it's in plain view, silly me.

This is great, I now have last.fm events on my website :D

I thought the RSS/iCal feeds were cool, but this is the icing on the cake. Well done!

The only thing that I'd like added, is a way that you can click on a country name, and see the venues within a certain distance. For instance, there are smaller venues which I'm not familiar with, and some acts that play there could be well under the radar, but I wouldn't mind checking them out.

So, for instance I'd like a way to click Netherlands...then click Zuid Holland.... then see all the venues in that area.

I love it. All I need now is an iCal/RSS for all events in a certain town and a "Events Radio" playing songs by recommended artists playing nearby.

iCal/RSS would be great yeah... also, a lot of concerts play a lot of dates in a row, so maybe that's something to work on for later?

Sorry, found it on my own events page.

Is there going to be a RSS functionality for the recommended events ?

Oh, a 'Events History' feature would be nice. Just to have a record of the events I've been to the last years.

  • That's possible already with "See past events" on every event page (also your profile).

  • Events is a fantastic feature. Love the site update.

One request: You can mark an event as "I will be attending", it would also be nice to mark an event as "I wanna attend" and then even better would be to get an auto generated email say a week or two out from the event reminding you that it's coming up.... and to go and get tickets and mark yourself as attending!

Will there ever be a way for venue web admins to automatically post new events?

    I second this.

Oh yeah, and one thing that I think would be cool would be to implement last.fm with ticket purchasing sites, so that you can get tickets with just one click. Maybe some sort of algorithm that searches through various ticket sites and comes up with links for any which have that event playing. Or even if when someone creates the event, they can give links to sites where you can buy tickets.

    Having a ball, almost...

After a way too many precious minutes of googling around trying to figure out how to migrate this really cool new evets feature and my iCal I finally found the RSS-feed and congratulated myself. Few seconds later i was deceived, when iCal gave me an error message (my OS X is in finnish so I won't paste a direct quote here). The error message said that the data in the .ics -feed was incorrect.

Strange thing is that i can subscribe my friend's giglist with no problems.

    Suggestions:

It would be nice to be able to subcribe all of the gigs of a certain location. Also a rss-feed link in the events page *under dashboard* would surely reduce the amount of gray hair within the population.

Were you using the RSS or the iCal feed for iCal?

And as far as subscribing to events of a certain location goes; there are iCal feeds for venues. Cities and so on are planned and might come later.

The dashboard thing is also being thought about.

    Hi,

I think it would be great to have something for festivals or pop quizzes. Maybe I just haven't found it yet, but if it's really not there it would be a good addition.
For instance, I would immediately add a quiz I'm attending in December and the Roskilde Festival next summer. No artists are known yet, but the dates are set :).

Something else: maybe presale dates for tickets could be added.

And my third comment. When I entered my area (in the Netherlands province of Zuid-Holland) and a certain amount of kilometers around it I got recommendations from my own provence and Utrecht but not from Noord-Holland (including Amsterdam) or Belgium (Antwerp). Those are less than 1 hour from here and within the request. I don't know what's wrong there but maybe someone could look into it.

    groetjes,
    Mirella :)

First I tried the iCal feed and then the RSS. Both failed, producing the same error message (incorrect data).

Gave it a another try and now it works like a charm. Strange.
