mobbler: The last.fm mobile scrobbler for s60 smartphones

I have just released the first release of mobbler which is a Nokia s60 application that will scrobble tracks played through the Nokia s60 music player.

You can find it at the google code page below.

    http://code.google.com/p/mobbler

Any feedback you have can be left on this discussion thread.

    Thanks.

Made a change and the E61i should be all working in the latest version.

    N81: working offline?

    Hi

    I installed the application on a Nokia N81. I have a problem scrobbling off-line:

As soon as I start the application _and_ connect to last.fm, the application windows shows "scrobbling" and sends data to the web. So far so good.

Now I disconnect from last.fm, but the application continues running with "offline" text showing in its main window. I continue playing tracks offline. And when I connect again to last.fm, the offline tracks are not send to the web.

Am I doing something wrong? The application is running when I am offline, but the status text from the main window does not show the number of tracks recored, just says "offline".

    Thanks!

    Thanks for your feedback!

There was a problem where mobbler would not scrobble your tracks immediately after connecting. It would, however, scrobble them the next time you scrobble a track 'online'.

The most recent version (0.1.10) has fixed this problem.

Ok, 0.1.11 works like a charm with offline tracks.

Also, the info from the main window (offline, n tracks queued, n tracks scrobbled) is clearer than before.

    Great!

    Request new features

    Hi

Once more, mobbler is what a lot of us was expecting!

And since it already does its jobs perfectly, I hace added some feature request to http://code.google.com/p/mobbler/issues/list

  • Magnificent!

Thanks for providing this app! It's one of those few things I've always wanted sinece moving back to Symbian phones, and it works exactly the way I'd hoped for, too.
Will be testing it on my N95. A lot. :)

    For series40?

    Hi

Would it be possible to make something like mobbler for series40?

(I have a nokia 6500 classic and I it would be great to get it scrobbling while I am listening in the train)

    Lovely!

Thank you! Works like a charm on my 11 months old N95. I've been missing this since I threw out my iPod and went all in with s60 and my N80 about two years ago.

    Happy!

    Hanging on "connecting"?

Hey, thanks for this! Unfortunately it's not working on my N75 :(

I submitted an issue to the tracker ... it might be the same problem as the person with an E61 is having? Or maybe not.

Also, will there be source code available?

    mobbler version 0.1.12

A few minor updates have been made and mobbler version 0.1.12 has been released.

I am quite excited to say that mobbler now has Spanish and Russian language support. Many thanks to Toni and Alex for this. If anyone wants to do the translations for another language then please visit this wiki page.

A few things have been fixed, such as the feature not supported error on N91, and crashing straight after connecting on the E61, etc. There have also been a few other minor improvements you probably won't notice.

To answer a few questions I have had.
    - There will be no series 40 version and I don't think it would be possible either
    - I have been thinking about making it open source, but this won't happen for a couple of weeks yet, at least
    - mobbler will not become a last.fm radio client

The response to this app has been really positive, so thanks for that.

    Cheers,

    Michael

    Great!

I just tested it on my N95 8GB and it works fine. I still need to check whether it can handle Umlaute (ö, ä, ü). I know that other 3rd party scrobblers do have problems with it. Thanks for your great work. I hope to have some time to provide the German translation.

Well, translation to German provided ...

    I hope it helps :-)

  • Hi,

Yeah, no luck with 0.0.12 on N75 here either.

The installer takes me through all the prompts, and after selecting the language and destination drive, it gets halfway through the "Installing" progress bar, then stops.

Then I get an error dialog saying "Unable to Install". This happens both with the internal memory and the flash card (both of which have plenty of room on them).

Maybe it only works for "feature pack" releases of S60v3?
