Is there a client for Windows Mobile yet?

  • Is there a client for Windows Mobile yet?

    Hey folks,

as the subject suggests, I'm looking for a way to scrobble tracks played on WMP on my Windows Mobile 5 device. Is anyone aware of such an app?

If you knew that there is none, a short reply is also highly appreciated, as I would develop one in that case, (but I would not like to waste my time working on something what already exists).

    TIA

  • I don't think so. But a WM scrobbler would be awesome.

  • There's no plugin that I know of for WMP on Windows Mobile, but there is a music player called Pocket Player available for Windows Mobile which has Audioscrobbler support. It plays MP3 and WMA, and I've been using it for a while on my Pocket PC.

  • I've finished an alpha version of the client and now I'm looking for some brave users willing to test it and report bugs (of which it certainly contains some). Only requirement is a Pocket PC running at least Windows Mobile 5 (perhaps Windows Mobile 2003 SE is also supported, but you'll definitely need Windows Media Player 10 and .NET Compact Framework 1.1 on it).

Anyone interested please drop me a line.

  • i would test it out, but I only have a smartphone :(

Please let me know if you ever make a smartphone port.

and maybe post the client at xda-developers.

  • I'll test it - Windows Mobile 5 on T-Mobile SDA

I'll be happy to test it. Could you send the source code as well?

  • a hacky way to do it

I just found a hacky way to play last.fm on your mobile device.
    1) Go to http://www.adamek.biz/md5-generator.php and compute MD5 hash of your last.fm password
    2) Navigate to http://ws.audioscrobbler.com/radio/handshake.php?version=1.3.2.13&platform=win32&username=YOUR_LAST_FM_USERNAME&passwordmd5=MD5_FROM_STEP_1&language=en&player=wmplayer
    3) you'll get a text page. It will have stream_url=... line
    4) open stream_url in the player and enjoy. It didn't work in Windows Media Player but Pocket Player that was mentioned earlier in the thread works just fine.

You can't skip tracks and this method is somewhat cumbersome but it works.

I have HD2 and if you still work on it I'm interested. Maybe I can even contribute to the app
