    Group Revolutions Disabled

Greetings, comrades! I am speaking to you as an instrument of state oppression, as I regret to inform everyone that the "revolution" feature of Last.fm groups has been disabled for the time being.

Believe it or not, our motivations are not political (HA HA HA WE HAVE CRUSHED YOUR PUNY INSURGENCY) but instead technical...the group politics system is unfortunately full of bugs and we've decided to put it on ice so that we can rethink, rewrite, and test it, rather than provide our users with (and provide support for) a feature that doesn't work reliably.

The small number of groups currently in a revolutionary state will be manually restored to some kind of stable aristocracy - if you have concerns about this process, you can voice them in this thread and we will be in touch.

All revolutionary groups have now in a peaceful state :) If you know your group was in revolution and the leader wasn't changed then there was not enough grounds left for me to allocate someone. Other than that I think I've been very fair.

Come see the violence inherent in the system!!! Death to bourgeios pigs!!!

On a serious note, I thought the revolutions were removed a few weeks ago?

    Your favorite band sucks!
  • OTTAWA,ON

It appears that the resolution to the OTTAWA ON group revolution was to keep the original leader in power. This is not really acceptable as our current leader doesn't appear to exist.

If someone else, anyone else, could be placed in power, that'd be great.

    Thanks.

    p.s. VIVE LA REVOLUTION!

Alright I have now obtained the leadership of a few groups, but the only powers I have are in the forums.
I cant approve journals, add artist connections, delete members, or edit any details of the group at all.

Nope, Russ said that they would be removed in few weeks ago. But the action has finally been passed

The Pink Floyd revolution was going to end next Tuesday, and after everyone else dropped out of the running, and the leader abdicated to me while the revoltuions were going on, and while I had the only votes, I can still only abdicate my "leadership." But I have no real powers at all. If someone could get around to our fairly large group that would be super.

And on another note, I didn't really find any problems with the system, I thought it was cool.

    No powers

I think that might be going on with all the groups that were in revolution.

And yea I had no problems with the system either.

Yeah we've got an annoying problem here. I'ma quote the FAQ on this one "[...]if there are up to three members who are clearly ahead of the pack they become the new leaders"
I think we should do something along those lines; our voting wasn't too far in but the group is completely useless (no forum, etc) until we get a new leader.

  • Yup, over at the radiohead group all I have is the forum powers, and one of the big reasons for the revolution was to get a group picture up hehe

  • Thanks for making me the leader in the Punknews group. I have a feeling we're one of the reasons for this. Anywho, how do I go about banning people?

  • Yeah, forum powers aren't working for New Order either - I'm guessing that the devs are doing things in phases (adding leaders first, then assigning powers, then double checking...) or something, which might take a while if they're double checking the results of everything (which is understandable). It's probably a pain in the arse for you guys to be doing this this close to Christmas - so thanks for that. ;)

    Spanish Inquisition

We have a situation at Spanish Inquisition group. Our current leader Snob has been logged in on the site and we've PMed him, but he hasn't done anything in the group in weeks. We had a revolution just going on when the feature was removed.

Right now, we're voting for the next leader on this thread and we hope the leader could be manually changed by staff after the voting is done.

"Once a lumberjack was about to chop down a tree, when he noticed a heart carved on it, with two names inside. Putting away his axe, he sawed down the tree instead. The point of that story escapes me, although six months later the lumberjack was fined for teaching a dwarf Roman numerals." -Woody Allen

I seem to have all my powers now, except I cant accept or decline pending journals. The option is there, but when I click it nothing happens.
I even set the journals to open but it just keeps going back to approval.

edit: Also I can add artists and country connections, but I cant add record labels.
