Bug: Events missing in listing

  • Bug: Events missing in listing

Many events listed on the artist page are not visible in the events list for a location.

    How to reproduce:
    1. Go to
    2. change location to "Munich, Germany"
    3. go to the page with the events for Nov. 3
-> Green Day event is missing

Looks like the problem is that "München" redirects to "Munich" when you set your location, but some of the venues are still on München.

  • It stays "München" when the language is set to German; still, the same problem. But it probably has something to do with the Munich vs. München thing, or even with the umlaut in München... anyway, it's annoying. I suppose there's no other place to report bugs except for this forum?

Oh, if you need another example of this (or a fairly similar) bug, here's one that happened to me after actually trying to "use" the event system:

This affects an event I added in Kraków, a metro which is also affected by the dreaded 'being spelled differently in other languages', the event link is:

An example affected search result page url (as of now):
(got this by typing "Kraków" into the searchbox on:, then going to page 2)

Searching for "Cracow" returns the same set of results, still missing the event.

It appears that - in general - the event venue ( is not associated with the Cracow/Kraków metro, as none of the events assigned to it show up in relevant search results. That's despite that the venue info seems to be correct when looking at it.

Not sure if this is related to the particular issue (possibly only as a graphic representation), but the same seems to affect the results presented on the playground event map:

The venue and the affected event(s) were created around, or more than two weeks ago (At first I thought it might take some time for them to be correctly, 'indexed' within your metro system, but it doesn't seem to be the case).

I realise this issue has been around for a while, but any fixes or workaround suggestions will be most welcome. Cheers.

I created a new venue (with an arguably more correct name) about two weeks ago:

This seems to be affected by the same issue - the venue is not associated with the metro and its events are not showing up in location-oriented searches, e.g:

Another obvious symptom of this is that the venue has no 'Nearby Venues'.

    Hi there,

A similar issue was described in this here forum thread:

In that case the venue affected ( has been created a relatively long while ago (looking at the ID + the venue image was added in Sep 2007). Despite listing the correct address/location details, the venue does not appear when searching for events in its location or browsing recommended events with the location set to 'Kraków'.

The venue has a list of 'nearby venues' which also seem to be 'orphaned' or connected to the wrong metro - another fairly notable example (with upcoming events) would be:

I realise that a fix for's metro/location-related woes of this sort is not something users should expect anytime soon (even going by what 'soon' means on these boards) and that the events system is not a priority, but any fix or workaround suggestion will be appreciated. Happy 2010.

This issue still hasn't been addressed. Does it affect all newly added venues, or just some 'unlucky' ones? (would test this myself, but i figure the last thing needs is more 'fake' venue pages)

It would be great to get a response here, are there any plans to get this fixed?

    look into my thread.
on English site it affects wrongly spelled cities.
on Russian version - all created venues.

What's the point to create such unlinked venues at all? Anyway I cannot select such location, but have to select city from predefined list.

  • Hi All,

Thanks for reporting this issue. It has been raised with our devs so it will be looked at. Hopefully we'll have some news about a fix to post soon. :)

    Yes, thanks for the attention!
By the way, I've got some statistics from the API.
As today in Russia we have 969 future events, and 254 of them miss geo data.

For some reason, this event doesn't show up in upcoming events for Auckland, New Zealand.

I thought maybe the problem is it's more than 50km from the city centre, so I tried an advanced search. It didn't help. Instead it made the list shorter, and it added events in Portland (Oregon) and Portland (Maine)!

the same story - the venue is not actually linked to Auckland, Nearby Venues pane is missing.

Ah right. It's a similar story with the US venues incorrectly linked to New Zealand cities, which happened somehow due to suburbs with the same name. If I can find the correct ones, at least I can flag them as duplicates.

For example, here's a venue which somehow got linked to the middle of nowhere, New Zealand: - one of its duplicates is linked correctly to the UK, but most are linked to NZ.

    was anything changed recently?

    there is such "problem" venue
but event is listed at common Events page and my personal recommendation

  • Events not being listed

Hi there, i'm fairly new to last FM, but i added a venue (in london!) and started listing events but none of them seem to appear anywhere else than on my events page! What am i to do? This isn't really a foreign city with different ways of spelling it, and it seems i'm doing it right... What could the problem be?
Thanks a lot for your help :)

  • The other extreme...

I looked at my event recommendations and laughed. I'm in New Jersey... the recommendations included Colorado and Hawaii.

Got a slightly different problem here. There's something wrong with this venue: it never shows up in venue search.

Also, so far it's never worked when moderators tried to merge it with the correct venue. It does have nearby venues though, so I assume events will show up ok in the event listing.

Well, I see some venues got geo-links now, so number of problem events is decreased from 25 to 16%, what's really cool.

but pro-active fixes for venue creation on localized sites and city name translation are still required to keep listings correct in future.

  • event display

i'm a group leader and i was wondering is there a way to show the 3 upcoming events and not the last 3 connected events on the group page???

today I have something new to report.

Adding any of that problem events to personal event list completely breaks iCal synchronization with Google Calendar - single item in the list stops to synchronize all other events too.

Empty GEO string should be removed from the feed:
    SUMMARY:Do-Re-Mi Orchestra & Silence Kit
    DESCRIPTION:Do-Re-Mi Orchestra\, Silence Kit
    LOCATION:Клуб "Цоколь" (ул. 3-я Советская\, 2/3)\, Russian Federation
