  • I really love the new site, just some small things that could be better and where mentioned before in the beta-forum and elsewhere:

    - option for "painting it black" (is already confirmed and only a matter of time
    - notice for new PMs (like the one on the old site showing "Inbox 0"
    - option to change color of those horrible blue bars on the charts (hopefully they'll change to another color with the black style)
    - option to disable the ugly black in-page player (global and on user sites only)
    - option to set shoutbox length and option to disable allowing everybody browsing it
    - shotcut/link on the main-profilepage for the old-style 7-days snapshot weekly charts
    - option to change and customize chart style (e.g. make the top-artists the "rolling 7 days" or "weekly charts" and "top-tracks" to "top artists" or whatever combination you like)

and one more thing: I so much love the new library feature!
Thanks you guys at last.fm for all the effort

  • all the glory of listening music faints away without last.fm.

    Agreee totally.
I'll be VERY sad if I can never get the old version back

and I don't care if anyone says I will begin to like it
Because I know it will never be as good as the old version

  • OMG. Why its so slow? Now I have 9 pages of friends but had only 3 on old last.fm!!! Now I should spend a lot of time to find a friend I need....smh @ new design. Pllease, bring us the old last.fm

STOP GRIPING ABOUT YOUR OVERALL ARTIST CHART. you can change it.

also, the tabs for viewing different intervals for the charts don't often work.

  • Hm.. the general header has gone through a nice update, but somehow the whole personal page looks kind of stretched. Why the profile/library/... header had to be put on the left is somehow unclear too - it leaves a lot of space beneath it unused. The things which were to be seen on one glimpse before (shoutbox, last scobbled, short info, etc), are now all over the page and scrolling is needed - which, as one might guess, is not the ideal way.
And I'm so wondering what the video right might be; it's broken all the time. (... and why it's there, most of all.. unwanted streaming?)
Though I have to say, putting there pictures concerning the top artists is a nice idea.
Generally - good things, bad things, the whole site is a bit overloaded and filled up, but with a little work it might not be so bad as others put it. (Though I have to say, I only clicked it out of curiosity and would also be very happy with the two versions to choose from.)

man this sucks, my whole profile looks like crap, I cant use black anymore, this should have remained an option, but could you guys at least bring back the black option, and have less white space? it blinds me!!!:(

There are one or two features still to come which have been confirmed by staff members, a 'paint it black' option is one of those :)

edit: to answer the post above mine, yes. I like the new layout.

Give it two weeks and most of the people complaining right now will have gotten used to it and realised that actually it's not the death of the site, and the new layout's perfectly fine. I'm speaking from experience, this has happened every time the site's been upgraded since I joined (and it wasn't even called last.fm when I joined, there've been a few upgrades since then) and will happen every time it ever changes in future.

There has NEVER been a backlash this strong before. Never. So don't lie. Sorry to sound like a bastard but there's no justification for keeping tbe layout when 99% of your members hate it.

  • I liked the old site, but I like this one too.

  • turned to crap

Wow! logged in this morning and everything was fine. Come back an hour later and everything is F'd! Embedded player won't work, site is insanely slow, looks like crap.

Whatever you did I would suggest a hasty retreat.

So, we DON'T now have an option to view our top weekly tracks and top overall tracks separately?!?!?

Also, again, WHY IS IT SO SLOW?

Also, again, why is the player that's supposed to play my top tracks on my page NOT WORKING?

  • The old version is better! PLEASE GO BACK

the library is friggin sweet, but why is the site so slow?

  • who are the beta testers, rejects from myspace. this is the best you can do?

It's better to pay attention cause you can't afford free speech
  • Perhaps we are reacting a bit dramatically too soon though, ladies and gents. My immediate reaction was a dropped jaw and mild cry when I refreshed the page to see this, but we are prone to resist change. I will probably grow (in time, lots of time) to accept and embrace the new look, truth be told, just as most of most likely will.

One thing I really, honestly don't see my opinion changing on though, is the shoutbox location. I HATE, no INDESCRIBABLY DESPISE the fact that I have to scroll all the damn way down to the very bottom to see my shouts. That scroll is even more lengthened if you up the number of displayed artists/songs on your profile. The first thing I do when visiting last.fm is look to side to check my shouts. It becomes an easy thing to forget when it's all the way down there. And please, please, please do not tell us that some sort of notice will be given to us when we receive new shouts/messages, because you know what I am going to say. You also know it will be negative. Major negative.

The bottom line and my main concern at this point, is, is there any way possible whatsoever to change to shoutbox location? It would please me immensely.

  • An option of being able to switch to the previous version would be greatly appreciated. This new layout is rediculous and not user friendly at all.

Hm, i mentioned that now you can see only top 200 of tracks/artists not 500 like earlier. That might be important for people with great count of scrobbled songs.

Show some respect the last.fm staff, they have worked hard for months with this new design, it's not bad as your making it seems. You sound like a child who can't get a bag of sweets. Please stop being igronant.

The only thing I don't like about the new version, is that country pages barely don't exist and there isn't a shoutbox on country pages either.

    I miss my country's shoutbox ;____;

Also, this site could be a little faster (or my internet connection is just slow).

But I think that I'll get used to the new version. Although if for some odd reason the "change back to old version" thingie becomes available, I'll probably switch back to the old version.

  • USERS CHOICE !?

Please let the users choose if they agree with the new style, lets go democratic ways!

I'm a subscriber , but i dont want to support this site if it develops so badly.
Normaly i like changes and new things, but only if they make something better.

That won't help unless it paints the entire screen black. This conglomerate of Web 2.0 design trends is making my eyes hurt. There is no uniformity whatsoever.

Suggestions: get rid of the excessive white space, lose the childish paint stroke-style navigation and headings, and redo the layout of profiles (if not everything).

I do like the tab-based charts, but I would gladly give those up for a more elegant design (such as the previous one).

The important question is... Why the hell are gif's not supported as avatars anymore? What a load of crap.

I also dislike how discreet they've made the "subscriber" bit :/
