Noorderzon is an annual festival festivity in Noorderplantsoen and many special locations in Groningen’s inner city. With the word festival we refer to the large number of first-rate shows and performances that our programme is full of. By the word festivity we mean the laidback atmosphere, the beautiful location and the great variety of surprising opportunities that may lead to unexpected get-togethers and funny situations.

What’s on the programme? Theatre, dance, multimedia, film, video and circus. But also rising stars from the pop music scene, local heroes and their performances, activities and workshops for our younger guests. Much – about two-thirds of the entire programme – is international work. Often multidisciplinary and without (too much) text. The other part is work with strong Northern roots.
