The opening concert features an evening with the godmother of performance art, Laurie Anderson, who will be presenting her new work, Another Day in America, at the historic Boulder Theater. Following is the classic Wednesday Nightcap at The Bitter Bar with Deniz Kurtel, an interdisciplinary artist who has been making a big impression on the international dance music scene. Thursday evening we will be hosting vocalist Lesley Flanigan, alongside the legendary Morton Subotnick, featuring live video artist Lillevan, in the pristine ATLAS Black Box Theater. In partnership with the University of Colorado College of Music: Composition and Education Departments, Subotnick will perform Silver Apples Of The Moon, commemorating the 45th anniversary of this ground breaking work of synthesizer music.

Friday evening begins with a post-classical showcase, as we present German pianist and sound designer Nils Frahm. Later at the Fox Theatre, we will host a collaborative event with Prop Gay, featuring queer politics pioneer Terre Thaemlitz (a.k.a. DJ Sprinkles), Followed by the first after-hours event, with hosts, Team Everything, our sister crew from Santa Fe, New Mexico.

In the spirit of Mid West Techno, Saturday late night features heavy hitters, Shawn Rudiman and Claude Young, in a collaborative hardware DJ hybrid extended set. Joining them is Detroit’s shining young talent, Kyle Hall. Sunday night brings us in with the enchanting and psychedelic Lulacruza, an Argentinean & Colombian duo bridging folklorico and modern electronics.

GREEN YOUR PASS

Green your pass and support the Communikey Yes…And? Program!

With your small tribute of $5 you can directly offset the environmental impact of your festival experience while supporting the ongoing efforts of the Yes…And? program.

Check out what the Green Pass accomplished in 2011:

• Provide a recycling and compost program in all of the concert venues successfully diverting 80% of our 3,525 lbs of waste from the festival

• Fund the basic costs of the CMKY Yes, And…? program

• Produce two events powered by 100% Biodiesel

• Provide bikes for all artists and staff for all five days of the festival

• With the help of the Colorado Carbon Fun, Communikey offset 50 metric tons (62.5%) of the 80 tons of CO2 produced from CMKY Festival and flight purchases

Greening Your Pass Makes These Things Possible:

Carbon-Offsetting the energy footprint of our events and our transportation. All offset proceeds provide support for local renewable energy projects based in the state of Colorado.
Operating full scale zero waste programs at all events
Providing bicycles for festival staff and artists
Bio-fueling our outdoor picnic
Increasing accessibility of public transportation to participants
Partnering with local forward-thinking sustainability organizations
Focusing on re-usable and recycled materials
Communikey’s Yes…And? program is committed to merging technology-based lifestyles and sustainable festival practices. Help us keep this exploration going and support a future of endless artistic expression on a livable and vibrant planet. Future forward!
