As we watch our brothers and sisters constantly fighting for freedom all around the world, here at KDVS we present this Spring’s Operation: Restore Maximum Freedom Festival with a truly excitingly eclectic lineup that we hope shakes the planet with the power of art and its freedom from boundaries while paying tribute to those who have made sacrifices in the name of freedom.
MAY 14th 2011 at Historic Plainfield station we will be bringing legendary headliner R. Stevie Moore from Tennessee for this one exclusive show in the entire West Coast. The Day will start with a shock of energy from the UC Davis Samba School, followed by KDVS supergroup Produce Produce that has stunned audiences oblivious to their talent at shows supporting bands like Wavves , Tyveck and Best Coast. Following our local legends, Kites Sail High from SF will take you soaring through high musical altitudes with their perfected shoe-gaze panache and gravitate you into a meditated state of mind where then ALAK ‘s cosmic music will infiltrate all of your senses leaving you with the feeling of magic that no Disney movie could ever describe. This magical feeling comes in perfect timing as Moonpearl takes over with a style perceived as “maximalist minimalism”, causing your soul to rattle, and your body to warm up for the next act-The Rain in Endless Fall a hard hitting dark metal band from Santa Cruz that will let you free fall into the darker limits of your mind only to plummet into the arms of Charles Albright’s musical experience. Are you thinking of the serial killer? Because you will be surely mistaken for Mr. Albright has been named the “maestro of fun” as he has peformed with bands such as The Pizzas, Rock the Light, Baby!, Megacools, the Knightmares, the Colonels, Sunshine Smile, and Milhouse SMF! At this time Ellie fortune will somberly sooth you for the final stretch as you hear what the blog One Night Music put so sincerely “faint. Lucid. Trembling. Dreamy. Delicate. Mysterious. Vibrative. Penetrating… tender. Lofty. Lilting. Crisp. Gravelly. Soft. Warbling. Windy.” Following will be Violet Tremors from LA bringing you some “pleasurable vibrations” produced by their glamorous new wave sound to tickle your senses and then Appetite, former KDVSer and musical mastermind from Sacramento with music that is purely ineffable but will surely leave you hungry for his upcoming release on Crossbill Records which released the blooming international sensation Sea of Bees. Here we reach the conclusion, where we are left with two artists that have truly embraced the freedom of music, Zach Hill and R Stevie Moore. Hill being the infamous drummer from projects from Hella, Nervous Cop, and recently Marnie Stern has defined no limits for his talent and thus being a perfect supporting headliner for Moore who has recognized absolutely no limits for the last 50 years with his musical endeavors and releasing over 400 different albums. Moore has been noted to be the influence of an endless list of artist’s and having him on board for this Operation Restore Maximum Freedom Festival leaves us to conclude that this will be on of the most prolific experiences you will have in 2011.R.
