Big Dylan fan and I love his voice at the moment. But I can't stand the arrangements he does. I have no problem with him re-arranging the songs, in fact I think it's a good thing to do! But I found the versions he played really dull, and in fact I was able to sing along to most as I knew exactly how he would sing each song. Didn't improve my enjoyment of the gig. Much preferred Van the next night, he altered quite a few of his songs but I thought they still sounded great.

You can be a great vocalist without being a great technical singer. Dylan is probably one of the best vocalists out there. There, I said it! (In fact almost all of my library is filled with brilliant lyricists and vocalists who can't sing that well, take Wayne Coyne for example. I don't think he even calls himself a singer...)

That's always been the point with him. He wants to confuse people, he doesn't want to look as good as he could in their eyes, and he wants the complaints. One of the reasons I've loved Dylan since I was a kid. You know it's the same thing as I could say that Dylan's not really a very good singer, yet he is one of my all-time favorite singers.

Well said! I think people will complain about Dylan forever, and y'know what.... fuck 'em!

I find it funny how there are still people complaining about Dylan not playing the songs the way they are on his albums. Complaining about the fact that he does completely different arrangements, sometimes to the point where only the lyrics can tell you which song he's performing now. But I mean come on, he's been doing this since 1965, when he first went electric. It's been nearly 50 years, and people have still not grasped the idea that Dylan will not play his songs the way you want to hear them. Once you understand this, and get over it, you will start seeing (and, well, hearing) the greatness of the music he and his band play every night. I find it frustrating when I watch all those old videos of him performing amazing music while people are just booing, just as I find it funny that the exact same thing is still happening. Once you understand Dylan will never play his songs the way you want, you will start to enjoy his shows. Personally I thought this concert was simply amazing.

Where oh where is the bootleg of Bob's set? My computer and ears are missing it.

There was a time when people went to festivals to listen to music. A large proportion of the crowd in front of the main stage were holding conversations, either with their neighbours or on a mobile phone, raising their voices to be heard above the music. I discovered that I could hear the music better at the back of the crowd where people were more spaced out. I wish I had spent more time at stages 2 and 3 as I enjoyed the bits of music that I heard from there and there wasn't the annoying background chat. As a 70's person, I had to see Dylan: I was disappointed as he sounded like a geriatric trying to remember the words. I wish I'd gone to see the "The Saw Doctors" instead as the music I heard coming from that stage sounded really good. Despite my moans, it was a good day out. I had attended to see The Waterboys, The Cranberries and Bob Dylan. Those acts were disappointing, but I did hear some other good music and there were enough friendly people there to make it a good day.
