    Jeff's ATP: Transportation

    Hey all,

    I know alot of folks are going to start locking in transport from London to Minehead. Trains are lovely but a tad bit expensive / National coach is affordable, but the journey is longer and the earliest one arrives to Butlins @ 2pm.

    My friends and I are all going to the Jeff ATP, and there's 13 of us in total. So we figured, why not make our own ATP Party Bus? I had the best time ever on the ATP bus for the Ten Year Bash back in 2009, and it was a super neat way to meet people.

    ===

    I contacted several coach hire companies (you are all welcome to join in the search to find a cheaper one, btw. Feel free to post any quotas you find here). A few got back to me, and the best rate was from Blue Ribbon Network Ltd (www.blueribbonnetwork.co.uk). Here are their prices:

    24 seater vehicle = £425 each way - 850 total
    29 seater vehicle = £450 each way - 900 total
    33 seater vehicle = £475 each way - 950 total
    39 seater vehicle = £500 each way - 1000 total
    49 seater vehicle = £525 each way - 1050 total

    Pick up to Butlins:
    7:30 am from Victoria Station London

    Drop off to London:
    12:00 pm from Butlins
    ===

    Pros:
    - We can play our own playlists.
    - We can set our own time for pick up and drop off.
    - Journey is only 4 hrs or so.
    - Our own grocery stops.
    - Drinking games!
    - We can arrive earlier so everyone can settle in nicely before doors open for the first show (usually 3-3:30 pm).
    - As cheap as the national coach, and cheaper if we get more people = more money in hand to spend on merch/food/booze.

    Cons:
    - Nada :)

    ===

    This is a rather cowabunga idea, and if we manage to get 49 people, it's only 21 pounds a head. That's 35 pounds cheaper than the train (from what I looked at), and 17 pounds cheaper than the national coach.

    So yeah, if you are interested in this, just post a yes or something in response. We'll see how many are keen and we can move forward from there.

    cheers,
    moe

    Oh is this still happening now it's moved date? It would make two people very happy...

  • If this is still an option, i'm in! otherwise: how about renting a car? if we split the costs for that by 5 it should be okay too, right?

    Now that I've met you would you object to never seeing each other again?

    Hey guys, well, still trying to see how many off us are going, tho the amount going dropped from 25 to 4. I'm totally up for the car rental. A friend might be driving as as well, so we can all sort something out.

    Let me confirm things, and I'll get back to you :)

    hey guys,

    sorry, but not enough of us are around to make this happen. I checked with several hire agencies, and unless we get over 24 people, it will cost 55 to 65 pounds a head. National Coach offers bus tickets for 35 pounds (return) so that's the only cheap individual option.

    Hope you guys get something sorted. I'll msg you both in case you dont read this.

  • A damn shame this isn't working out... I'm looking at coaches right now, found they start from £ 18.40 (return), pretty cheap, I'd say. Found here, thought this might be useful to those of us still looking at transportation.
