The very first Laneway Festival in Auckland city is set to be an absolute doozy. From the seminal to the scene-starting, the esoteric to the exhilarating, the Laneway Festival brings you a roll call of artists that is as exciting as it is diverse. Laneway is a festival put together by folks who love music, for folks who love music- and there are plenty of us in New Zealand.

The Laneway began as a small boutique festival in Caledonian Lane, in Melbourne in 2004.

Founded by two friends compelled to create a party for their mates in bands, the Laneway Festival was an instant success and grew to Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth. The formula is simple. Every year Laneway features the best legendary and up-and-coming indie bands; that music lovers can enjoy in the city centre. Auckland Lanweay Festival will have plenty of access to cool refreshments, beer and tasty morsels from boutique food stalls and you won’t have to wade through munted punters.

wasnt really the organisers fault, the playing times (up until cut off your hands) were completely reasonable. the main timetable problems were actually later on at night (eg dirty three only being allowed 25 minutes). the phoenix foundation screwed up the whole day by playing for almost an hour.

do you really think they wanted to? they started late as it was. If you want to blame anyone it should be the organisers or whoever had run late earlier in the day... http://twitter.com/cutoffyourhands

I agree. I couldn't believe they started playing during Daniel's set. So rude.

I'm SO pissed that Echo & the Bunnymen are no longer playing. They were the main reason I wanted to go.

Just bought a ticket :) The Laneways site was screwed and said that they were sold out. Managed to buy through Ticketmaster though, where they charge $12 for courier and $8 for pickup at the venue - retarded.

I made the mistake of listening to Mumford & Sons, who I now love. Really not happy about the bands that are not coming to NZ.
