Following three hugely successful sold out events the world renowned Underage Festival returns to London’s Victoria Park on Sunday August 1st for another youth-powered adventure. This year, soft drinks brand Tango is sponsoring the main stage that will host a stunning offering for music lovers of any age never mind those experiencing the excitement of their first festival. Established as a landmark in the UK festival calendar, Underage Festival is renowned for booking the most credible musical artists around, all playing to a rapturous young audience.

First up for what is undeniably the coolest festival in the UK, is the coolest artist in the world MIA. Listed by TIME magazine in 2009 as one of the World’s 100 most influential people, MIA’s stylistic musical melting pot has marked her out as a one of pop music’s most maverick performers who will undoubtedly dazzle the Underage crowd with a superlative set of searing masterpieces.

Fellow diva Annie Mac will bring her riotous Annie Mac presents showcase to Victoria Park playing host in the Converse Tent guaranteeing an eclectic mix of huge party anthems that will get the Underage crowd reaching for the lasers. Bow’s finest Tinchy Stryder is also set to bring his gilt-edged pop-rap stylings to Underage Festival. An undisputed Star In The Hood Tinchy is one of the hottest acts around and will no doubt see him basking in the Spotlight. Caspa whose bass wrecking soundsystem has been a huge highlight at previous Underage shows makes a heroic return alongside MC Rod Azlan rockin’ the mic. Also confirmed for this year’s event are Drum ‘n’ Bass overlords Chase & Status. One of dance music’s most in your face live acts currently smashing it on the circuit, it’ll be guaranteed bass pressure for the E3 crew.

As you’d expect the top tips for 2010 are well represented with Ellie Goulding, who already has a Critic’s Choice BRIT Award under her belt, leading the charge. Her electro-folk-acoustic-pop has won her a huge army of fans and as a sure fire bet for stardom this year, her performance is eagerly anticipated. Other top tips include Egyptian Hip Hop a band young enough to be Underage customers themselves have been garnering vast critical acclaim as their Mancunian musings amass them a rapidly growing fanbase and the social network savvy Essex teen queen Daisy Dares You whose face has already appeared on numerous front covers before she’s even released a record will be demonstrating the bubblegum punk that is sure to propel her debut single featuring Chipmunk into the charts. Gold Panda will also be delivering the minimal and warm charity shop fuelled instrumental soundtracks that gained him a BBC Sound of 2010 nomination.

With the future stars all catered for, Underage will be welcoming back some old favourites including Hadouken! the illegitimate offspring of The Prodigy whose ravey anthems and lyrics about modern life have made them perennial Underage favourites and Lightspeed Champion whose ‘Life Is Sweet! Nice To Meet You’ album is currently causing a stir plus there will be Indie rock from Northern Ireland’s General Fiasco will make sure the kids are in for a few hours of serious of serious mayhem in the moshpits. The Late Of The Pier Soundsystem, an exciting new side project from the lauded new ravers will be making an appearance as will New Young Pony Club whose new album The Optimist’ heralds the beginning of a brave new future for the band that will be evident for all to see at their Underage Festival appearance.
Other names in this first line-up announcement include newcomer Jakwob showing off his midas bass line touch, plus London trio Is Tropical, soulful sounds from Rox, Oxford’s Stornoway, drum and bass dons Sub Focus, Tinie Tempah who will be dropping his debut album just before making his Underage appearance and 8-bit electro action from Unicorn Kid

Radio 1 will be at Underage bringing you all the action, backstage gossip and highlights from the Festival.

With more names still be announced, the truly unique Underage Festival 2010 looks set to continue to be the world’s greatest event dedicated solely to the under 19s.

    not as good as last year but still had a decent time :) hot stuff - stornoway, everythingx2, deez, caspa, chapel club (despite sound problems which i didn't even notice :p) gutted i missed sub focus. really hope there's a more 'classic underage' line up next year tho

    The bands were mostly good, Alice Glass didn't have a clue what she was doing. They need however, to get some tarpooling down, the dust gave me two asthma attacks!
