More Information About the FYF Fest:
This year is attached to an important awareness campaign. Due to the recent budget cuts by Gov. Schwarzenegger, many programs are beginning to lose their lifelines. One of which is the California state park system where the governor has cut $14.2 million in funding, forcing over 100 California State Parks to the brink of closing down. We hope that this event will send a message to all of the California state lawmakers stating that these parks are vital components of our communities should not be cut.

For more information on the State Park situation please visit: www.calparks.org

We (FYF FEST) will be donating $1 of every ticket to two organizations making positive change within the community on a daily basis, Homeboy Industries and Harvest of Hope.

About Homeboy Industries:
Homeboy Industries traces its roots to “Jobs For A Future” (JFF), a program created in 1988 by Father Gregory Boyle while he was serving as pastor of Dolores Mission parish in Boyle Heights. Begun as a jobs program in 1988, offering alternatives to gang violence in one of the toughest neighborhoods in the city, the program soon grew beyond the parish.

In only a few years, Homeboy Industries has had an important impact on the Los Angeles gang problem, with young people from over half of the region’s 1,100 known gangs seeking a way out through Homeboy. Thousands of young people have walked through the doors of Homeboy Industries looking for a second chance, and finding community. Gang affiliations are left outside as these young people work together, side by side, learning the mutual respect that comes from shared tasks and challenges. (www.homeboy-industries.org)

About Harvest of Hope Foundation:
The Harvest of Hope Foundation’s Mission is to provide emergency and educational aid to migrant farm workers and their families which is extremely limited and often not available otherwise. Thus, it is the goal of the Harvest of Hope Foundation to fill in the gaps in service to this most hard-working yet needy group of seasonal migrant workers and families by distributing funds to pay for gas, tires, car repairs, rent, utilities, medical services, food, clothing, funeral expenses and educational scholarships. (www.harvestofhope.net)

Volunteer Program:
In addition to assisting these two organizations, we (FYF Fest) has also partnered with over 15 local non-profit charities via our newly launched Volunteer Program. For every 12 hours of volunteered time participants will receive two free tickets to the festival and care package that is sure to make one smile. Some of the organizations involved are the Union Rescue Mission, 826LA, Angel Food, Midnight Mission, L.A. Burrito Project, Habitat for Humanity, Campfire Kids, L.A. Food, Cine-Family plus many more. This program is our way of trying to bridge the gap between those willing to work and those in need of help in our community. Please visit our website for more information on how to join.

We want to extend an extra special thanks to our sponsor’s who believed in us and in our vision to expand the FYF Fest.

My god, this year was such a disappointment. Whoever planned this larger scale fest failed big time, which makes me really sad because last year's Fest was the highlight of my summer. My friends and I left early and went to Little Tokyo instead.
