Casa da Música
Avenida da Boavista, 604-610, Porto, 4149-071, Portugal
Music programme of the 2009 Sound and Music Computing conference in Porto, Portugal.
Building on Porto’s vibrant music scene and its links with the rest of Europe, the conference counts on a group of excellent musicians specialising in new music: Franziska Schroeder (saxophones), Sephanie Wagner (flute), Victor Pereira (clarinet), Jonathan Ayerst (piano), António Augusto Aguiar (contrabass) and Nuno Aroso (percussion).
The unique Casa da Música and world-class performers associated with the conference were the focus of an open call for works which received a worldwide response. The resulting Music Programme reflects the multitude of practices that currently characterise the interface between music and computing. Some of the works link directly to research presented in the paper presentations while others represent research disseminated through music alone. Some of the pieces and performances come from large research institutions while others are the work of individuals working outside academia. This diversity reflects an extremely rich and active community
