DAN ARBORISE

Inspired by the music of Nick Drake and influenced by the sweet melodies, simple structure and heavenly harmonies of Glasgow’s Teenage Fanclub

Dan’s first CD ‘Around In Circles’ was produced by Jon Hopkins (Eno, King Creosote, Coldplay producer/collaborator extraordinaire) and released in 2006 to a mild press frenzy and Dan hit the road lulling audiences into trancey slumbers up, down and across the UK, playing festivals such as The Green Man, Brampton Live, End Of The Road, Lewes, Ullapool and International Guitar Festivals, Big Green Gathering and Celtic Connections and supporting artists including John Martyn, Thea Gilmore, Sid Griffin and the Coal Porters, Aberfeldy and numerous others.

Live, Dan’s tender and haunting voice is the perfect match for his evocative and rhythmic guitar-picking. Expect unusual open tunings, songs that develop into instrumentals, instrumentals that grow into songs and a beautiful acoustic guitar sound that is frequently transformed but never compromised by some amazing electronic guitar effects.

KYLE CUTHBERT

Recent Fly review said of Kyle Cuthbert - like a new folk Sonic Youth – the acoustic guitar is an integral part of his show. He deftly caresses, tickles and taps all over the instrument to tease out his affecting songs. Although stagecraft alone merits a viewing of his myspace, the substance is what fully engages the audience. Kyle’s carefully pitched voice lilts and dips in and around his guitar stylings in a most hypnotic fashion. Sure, there’s a progressive aspect to all of this, but in a pared down good way.

CHRIS CARROLL

Thumbing the bass and teasing a melody. Original songs influenced by Chet Atkins and Leo Kottke with a hint of country. One of Aberdeen best kept secrets and a phenomenal guitar player. Reckoned by Jason Ringenberg to be as good as any Nashville session musician and he’s seen more than a few.
