De 40e Zomerfeesten Nijmegen, ook wel Vierdaagsefeesten genoemd, vinden plaats van zaterdag 18 juli t/m vrijdag 24 juli 2009. Dit gebeurt ter gelegenheid van de Nijmeegse Vierdaagse Afstandsmarsen. Op zaterdag 18 juli trapt Wolter Kroes het evenement af met zijn band. Een dag later geeft Nijmeegs trots Frank Boeijen een optreden in de St. Stevenskerk, waar ook de talentvolle Marike Jager te horen zal zijn. Later op die avond zal hij tevens op het hoofdpodium te bewonderen zijn op de Waalkade. Op het Waalkade-hoofdpodium zullen verder gratis optredens zijn van o.a. De Staat, The Skatalites en Memphis Maniacs. DJ Wipneus & Pim zullen een speciale show rondom top-40 tunes verzorgen. In het prachtige Valkhof park zorgt festival de-Affaire dat je de smaakmakers van vandaag en de grote namen van morgen kunt zien. Hier staan Deerhoof, Cold War Kids,Selah Sue,Caribou, Blood Red Shoes, St. Vincent, Bishop Allen, The Dodos, Portugal. The Man, Gojira, Johan, Roosbeef en tientallen andere bands. Aan de overkant van de Waal is er het Habana podium waar de liefhebber van jazz en wereldmuziek zijn hart kan ophalen met optredens van onder andere the New Cool Collective en Maria De Fatima.

OK, figured it out, this is just the wrong event. Most people seem to refer to it as the "Festival de-Affaire" (http://www.last.fm/event/951733) ... and they've never been promised The Skatalites in the first place :-( Kinda lame to make up bands :-/
