What a strange and interesting life Steve Aoki leads. The renowned DJ and taste-maker got his start in the DIY punk scene, using his Dim Mak record label to release obscure records from bands like Das Oath and Envy. Perhaps channelling the punk spirit of his upbringing, Aoki also loves to tour.
Mr. Aoki already has a hefty chunk of his year mapped out, with a current European tour with Dim Mak label-mates, The Bloody Beetroots to wrap up, a series of North American dates through the summer and what looks like plans for a show in Malaysia at the start of May. Besides playing at “The Biggest Tattoo Show on Earth” in Las Vegas, an event called “Aquatic Saturdays at the Pool” in New Jersey and a private graduation function in Bakersfield, CA, Aoki will also be gracing Canada with four stops, including ones in Vancouver, Richmond Hill, London and Toronto. The Toronto date also includes MSTRKRFT and Crookers.
