Absolutely top-notch show. I don't know how Enslaved got booked with such a star act like Opeth, but after literally yawning through Enslaved's modest attempts to engage a lukewarm crowd, Opeth was unparalleled as usual bringing the crowd to a fevered pitch with a brutal two and a half hour set spanning all of their albums but Orchid. Mikael was very charming with lots of candid humor shared with the responsive and lively crowd. They opted not to finale with Demon of the Fall, but instead brought a pulse-pounding white knuckled set to a climactic close with Deliverance.

Yep, the Hawthorne and Roseland don't have great sound. Sometimes, depends on the bands and the sound people that night, it can be alright.. but mostly it's crappy. If you want great sound and no dealing with security assholes and the up close experience, check out Berbati's Pan. I think they use a center barricade for their all-ages shows, which sucks, but if you're 21+ the place is a breath of fresh air in comparison to the Roseland.
