    Fri 2 Oct – Mott the Hoople

    Unlike so many bands from the past, the reunion of Mott The Hoople was proven to be no nostalgia trip down memory lane at the HMV Apollo last night.
    Some thirty five years after their last gig together Hoople rose to the challenge of turning back the years with the aplomb of seasoned musicians and the power and energy of a bunch of twenty five year olds, witnessed by a crowd of devoted fans that stood and cheered and sang their way through the whole of the two hour set.
    It was never Hoople's style to do anything by half measures, their classic hit All The Young Dudes is THE anthem of the glam rock era, they were the first band to play a week of dates on Broadway (with Queen as support), and their fans were the proto-punks who in 1971 smashed up the Royal Albert Hall and got rock music banned there for many a year.
    Taking the stage to a rousing reception that belittled the recent reunions of the likes of Led Zeppelin…
