Revolutionary saxophonist Evan Parker returns to The Cube with a new group that
combines the talents of some of the most exciting musicians working today:

formidable free noise drummer Chris Corsano; irascible Spring Heel Jack
guitarist John Coxon; and incomparable double bass virtuoso John Edwards. Driven
by the desire to explore, experiment and extend, these four musical adventurers
will all play solo as well as together as a quartet, revealing the tense and
fecund dialectic between individual and collective so central to improvised
music making. Bringing together everything from space shifting circular
breathing to stinging string scrapes, deep hitting wood slaps to extended bowed
resonances, this spontaneous recombination of diverse sonic elements will
produce music of a truly singular beauty. Absolutely unmissable.

EVAN PARKER (soprano and tenor saxophones) has, over the last 40 years,
completely redefined the saxophone as an instrument and improvisation as a way
of making music. Hailed as the greatest saxophonist since John Coltrane he has
been central in establishing free improvisation as the most advanced and
exciting form of music making today. A truly unique figure, Parker continues to
refine and expand his practice, opening up fertile new possibilities for future
experimentation for years to come.

CHRIS CORSANO (drums) has played with everyone from Sonic Youth to Björk,
Sunburned Hand of the Man to Alan Wilkinson, Jandek to Vibracathedral Orchestra,
as well as in an acclaimed trio with Evan Parker and John Edwards, and
incendiary duos with Paul Flaherty and Mick Flower. An electrifyingly kinetic
performer, who extracts an astonishing range of sounds from a specially extended
kit, he is one of the most in demand players in all forms of experimental music
on both side of the Atlantic.

JOHN COXON (guitar), best known as one half of experimental duo Spring Heel
Jack, and for his work with Spiritualized, has become one of the driving forces
of improvised music today, bringing a fresh slant and energy to his numerous
projects, collaborations and productions. His sparse and astringent guitar
style, haunted by ghosts of the blues and popular song, has ignited
collaborations with Matthew Shipp, Wadada Leo Smith, John Tchicai and Han Bennink.

JOHN EDWARDS (double bass) is undoubtedly one of the most talented musicians of
his generation, a virtuoso performer who makes his bass sing and dance like no
other. Capable of combining the visceral and the abstract in a single note, he
brings an irrepressible energy and infallible poise to any musical situation.
His recent album of solo double bass improvisations (“Volume” on psi records)
has already been hailed as “the record of the year” (Steve Beresford) and been
chosen as one of the best 100 albums of 2008 in The Sunday Times.
