i feel you guys. yeah, there are times to sing along and times not to. i get that. but, IMO, there's something about hearing a large group of people coming together and singing a song-- echoing the same emotion-- that i just can't help but love.

If it's an acoustic song and you're singing along I will be pissed off at you because I wanted to hear the song, not you. (this being the case with IWFYITD)...Normally I don't care if you're singing as long as you're not obnoxious...I do like the signs they had posted all over the bowl though, "Solo's are for the musicians, so please keep quiet".

I'm sorry for snapping, but most of the sing-alongs I've heard have been tone-deaf kids yelling the words during the quiet songs or drunken idiots bellowing out of time. And when I compare that to the shows where the audience is just hushed and listening to a song with rapt attention, I can't help being annoyed. As for concerts not being my thing, well, considering my social anxiety and probable AS to boot, they really shouldn't be my thing. And I have had "incidents" where I've cried and wanted desperately to leave. But I stayed. And I keep going because I love music; and the difference between listening to a record and seeing a show is the difference between looking at a photograph of a place and actually going there. And after 12 years and eighty-something gigs, I can't just stop going. As stressful and annoying as I find certain aspects of being a concert-goer, once I actually get to the show I usually just deal with it.

i was at a show a few years back, and hearing a crowd of like 1000 people singing along with the band was pretty fuckin powerful and beautiful. and made the show that much more fun. just sayin.

lol it's not like i'm drunkenly screaming the lyrics so you can't hear the band. take it easy. i'm not trying to start a fight here, pal. i understand where you're coming from but i think who8me2k7 and i are in the majority when we say that, crowd singing is a pretty normal and enjoyable ~phenomenon.

This Happens During Pretty Much Every Show. If You Don't Like When Other People Sing Then Shows Aren't Really Your Thing Like who8me2k7 said . Maybe You Can Chill At Home and Listen To Some CD's and Not Worry About Other People Singing and It's Free You Don't Gotta Spend 30 bucks and Take Time Off of Work. Cuz To Go To Shows and Expect Everyone To Shut Up is Kinda Hard. But Maybe It's Just Me.

you're right, it does make you obnoxious. if you can't appreciate other people who know the lyrics to songs and get a joy out of singing along, then maybe you shouldn't go to shows to begin with. to me, thats half the fun when everyones singing along. now i know its a bit cliche to sing along to i will follow you into the dark, but come on..at least they get joy out of knowing something. i'm sorry you feel as if you wasted money because other people are singing.

Whatever. Continue being inconsiderate to the people who go to shows to hear the band. Cos really there's nothing like paying $30++ per ticket to hear the kids around you drown out Ben during IWFYITD. That's what I paid for right? And waited for. And travelled for. Took the time off of work for. And it's exactly what I want to hear on my recording of the show forever after. Sorry. I didn't realize there's no other way to have a good time and make the show "come alive" than to sing along. I guess that makes me obnoxious.

Haha Singing Is Great. Makes The Show Come Alive. I Think Bands Would Feel A Bit Weird Playing In Front Of A Dead Show With Ppl Just Looking At Them

it was a good show, especially if your seating 4 rows away from the stage. tegan and sara are just too good to be true. but i agree was boring seating down teh whole time!!

I agree with most of you all. I will still go see death cab again in a heart beat, but they just dont have the power for the bowl. The music was sort of lost in translation in that big venue. They need to go back to the wiltern...that is more their type of venue. I def agree with comments on the crowd. They only songs people new were the KROQ hits. Typical!

@who8me2k7: the artist is Camille Rose Garcia (she's a famous Los Angeles "lowbrow" artist). She's had her works shown in several galleries.
