Dananananaykroyd are all set for the release of their new joyous, heady, heavy and euphoric debut album ‘Hey Everyone’ on Best Before records April 6th, to be preceded by the single ‘Black Wax’ on March 23rd.   The band invaded NYC in September ‘08 to record the album with Grammy nominated producer Machine (Lamb of God, Every Time I Die, Fall Out Boy, Johnny Foreigner) and have come up with an absolute killer first full length, that includes previous NME single of the week ‘Pink Sabbath’.

A quick online Google search for Dananananaykroyd brings up the comparisons with Pavement, Glassjaw, Sonic Youth, a spikier Blood Brothers, as well as mentions of ‘post hardcore’, the ‘Dischord record label’, a ‘Wall of Cuddles’ and 10/10 live reviews. Bursting with energy, ideas, character and melody, ‘Hey Everyone’ throws together every known genre of music, pushing way past their previous moniker of ‘Fight Pop’ into a wonderful new heavier/lighter/odder territory in equal measures. Launching ‘Hey Everyone’ is the opening track of the same name, the album rockets through a maze of spiky, pop tinged, punk/art rock anthems, at times with dizzying velocity and power. First single and 4th track  ‘Black Wax’ slows the frantic pace down a notch, with its angelic chorus, use of piano, bells and gang vocals, before the rest of the album hurtles and thrashes its way along, constantly surprising and startling in equal measure.

+ Calories

Calories formed in the hot, wet mid-summer of 2008; however John, Tom and Pete have been recording and playing together in various bands and bedroom projects since their early teens - notably, Birmingham quartet Distophia and the shorter-lived Antlers. Now we have Calories, a mix of crashing guitars and killer hooks that keeps each song pounding through your brain for days. ‘Adventuring’ was recorded in just five days after the band’s third show and possesses the urgency one would expect from such beginnings.

Calories are more a band of brothers than bandmates; they collectively write, play and sing each song - swapping instruments from track to track during writing and recording. Deftly produced, ‘Adventuring’ is the sum of eclectic musical influence: Shudder To Think, Blonde Redhead, Polvo, Don Caballero and Liars are all in the melting pot. Calories however, add their own unique quality to every track, creating a sound that’s entirely their own.

+ Me My Head
http://www.myspace.com/memyhead

Formed at the beginning of a bad year, out of a union born of hope and belief in one another, the 5 heads met through mothers and fathers, mixed up recordings, mutual friends, enemies and lovers. Fervid vocalist, lamenting guitarist, dystopia obsessed synthesist, sex faced bassist and smooth skinned human beast giant drummer set out to make songs for killing and weeping to. From this came a sound hungry for big stages, echoing elements of new wave romantics, lonely space travellers, love lost, ice cold pop and the thunder of a house falling down.
