Satan, satan, satan, satan, satan said DANCE!

I arrived way too early (even earlier than some of the journalists who had a meeting with the bands) at “Gebauede 9”. A quite small but cool club in Cologne I didn’t know before. Waited in front of the hall. People ran out of the building across the street to somewhere else. I didn’t know that it were the guys of Clap Your Hands…maybe I should started looking at pictures of the band before going to a concert so that, the next time when I see someone running around I know who it is…whatever. Met a couple of very nice people.

Elvis Perkins:
I remember some weird looking guys with funky glasses doing some kind of folk-music-thing. They were quite nice though I have to say I didn’t like them that much…I missed the beat.

Cold War Kids:
Hats off and on your knees!!! God what was that?? That was absolutly amazing. Cold War Kids are fantastic!!!!! They have a beat. the band consists of Matt Aveiro, Matt Maust, Jonnie Russell and Nathan Willet. I don’t really know how to describe their music. On their myspace-page they say it’s a rock-blues-soul thing…mh…something like this but you can’t really get an idea of how they sound like from this describtion…check out some songs of them at myspace. add them and love them. Live the songs are 1000x better…so you really missed out if you didn’t see them. By the way my favourite one of the set yesterday was: Hospital Beds.

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah:
A short pleasure. way too short. They’re great live. And Alec’s voice…gosh. That’s my idea of what the devil sounds like. It gave my the creeps, but it was soo great at the same time…ahh. Nice, nice, nice. I don’t know what to say else. It was great. Here’s the setlist of the Cologne gig:
Some Loud Thunder
Is This Love
Yankee Go Home
Safe And Sound
Foreign Land
Home On Ice
Yellow Teeth
She Smiles
Tidal Wave
Come Along
Heavy Metal

I hope you enjoy the pictures I took and you’re fine. Lot’s and lot’s of love Magali

Elvis Perkins - son of Anthony! Cold War Kids were really great, they have that something. CYHSY - it was ok, but Alec Ounsworths voice got a bit on my nerves after a while. also pretty boring, the band.
