The Cinematic Orchestra (Sydney Festival 2009)
One of the most innovative bands in the UK, The Cinematic Orchestra (TCO) remix live source material into a seamless fusion of electronic sampling, turntablism, live instrumental and improvised jazz.
Their spellbinding music originates from the sonic interests of J Swincoe, whose roots lie with South London indie label Ninja Tune. With bassist Phil France and a host of the UK’s top improv jazz players as collaborators, TCO mix jazz bass, raw rhythm sections, refined electronica and gorgeous vocals to create their unique sound. The sense of space and attention to detail within their music underlines the lush cinematic element from which they found their name.
In the past few years TCO have headlined festivals across Europe, toured the US in the back of a transit van and performed at the presentation of a lifetime Achievement Award for Stanley Kubrick by the Directors’ Guild.

Koobakoop ... City Recital Hall is a great intimate venue to enjoy The Cinematic Orchestra - the acoustics are also fantastic. Can't wait.
