Pat Metheny es uno de los guitarristas de jazz más respetados y conocidos de su generación, dándose a conocer a mediados de los 70 de la mano del vibrafonista Gary Burton y describiendo desde entonces una poliédrica trayectoria en la que tienen cabida grandes dosis de fusión y experimentación. Su lista de colaboraciones es interminable a la par que exquisita (desde Ornette Coleman hasta Joni Mitchel), mientras su talento sigue dando frutos jugosos como el reciente Day Trip, álbum editado a principios de 2008 bajo la autoría de un Pat Metheny Trio del que forman parte el batería Antonio Sánchez y el bajista Christian McBride.
