Curated by former Tunng co-founder, producer and Iceland inhabitant Mike Lindsay, Cheek Mountain Thief is a new experimental folk project. Originally hailing from Chandlers Ford, Mike moved to Iceland in 2011 to create this unique indie-folk sound under the light of the aurora bourealis.
Named after the Kinna Fell in Husavik, Iceland (Cheek Mountain), this haunting new material is threaded with a warm melodious tone which resonates in layers of darkness and light. Predominately acoustic, the rich fusion of indie-folk has been created using no electronic equipment other than a Dx7 synth.
With the debut self-titled album featuring as ‘album of the day’ on BBC Radio 6 this August, the chance to see this exciting new folk project live is something music fans will not want to miss.
