„Our sound is that we have no sound“ – so etwas darf eben nur eine Band sagen, die Prog- und Kraut-Rock mit Jazz und Salsa mischt. Schubladen waren gestern – The Mars Volta sind heute! Vor allem live brennen die Mannen ein Feuerwerk an Improvisationen, spontanen Ausbrüchen und unbändiger Spielfreude ab. Offene Münder sind garantiert!

Check out their performance at the Open'er festival (two days later) for an audio-visual reminder of their Berlin show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6J_2IXdYE0

great show. really ... one of their best I've seen so far. They all were very much on point & Cedric seemed to enjoy himself. also, very neat set, had everything from slow sexy parts to hell on earth parts going hand in hand the thunderstorm raging outside. Did I miss something (or forgot) or didn't they play Zed & Two Naughts? bummer ... it's such a great song. anyway, I enjoyed that A LOT

Their current live rendition of Goliath really is excellent! [2]. Amazing show!I also enjoyed Malkin and Dyslexicon.

Their current live rendition of Goliath really is excellent! The only way it could've been better if there was a slow jam in the middle (as they used to play).

isn't anybody interested how the new tracks will come across live? I mean: their live songs and their album songs have always been two different pair of shoes. no wait: one has been shoes, the other has been ... dunno ... a spaceship or something. I haven't seen them on this tour and I won't see/hear any other gig than the one in Berlin. Why on earth would I care what they play on their other shows of that tour? I won't be there ... so I'm wondering: why do you care what they play on shows you won't even visit? I'm excited for tonight

kgullholmen, it has nothing to do with Noctouniquet. it's one thing to promote the new album and a whole different thing to play some half-assed playlist where they perform an album plus the two same tracks, *on all dates*. If they even bothered to change the "extra" songs, well, it would begin to make sense. But this is fucking bullshit. Since when a band so unconventional, provocative and alive became just another rock act with a standard playlist on every single date? Fuck that. I want a 2 hour jam that will make my ears bleed and my head spin instead. If they are bored enough to not even rehearse tracks, shit, they just shouldn't play gigs. It's not that I know better than they do, but seriously, I feel like they've flipped me off with this attitude. That being said, I am still curious how it's gonna be. But I don't have any expectations whatsoever.

i think new stuff sounds more exciting live than on recording, because volta never makes it the same, that's what i like about their shows, so for me it's never enough with volta

what makes you say that? also, what's wrong with Noctourniquet? It's the Noctourniquet tour ... so that's not very surprising, innit? I've seen them play Frances, Amp, Bedlam and Octa ... and most of Deloused. I DEMAND NEW STUFF (and I'm happy I shall receive)

Do you think I'll manage to buy ticket right before the concert? I'm from Russia, can't find a company selling printable tickets to this concert, and post in our country is too unreliable :(

TMV is all for not ever letting anyone getting used to anything (see their music) ;D actually I think it's a good choice ... to pick something completely different (they toured with Saul Williams, who's a poet / rapper (and one of the greatest)) ... it opens minds, yet doesn't exhaust you for the mainact's kind of music ...

i like post-punk and no-wave, riot grrls sometimes too, but i think i got used to having Volta on its own

I guess some TMV fans might not like this opener. it's rather raw punkish stuff. but if you like the music that usually appears under ORL Prod / Sargent House you'll know and probably like them, too
