Description

Durham University Choral Society
Handel: The King shall rejoice
Handel: My heart is inditing
Mozart: Mass in C minor

Conductor: James Lancelot
Accompanied by members of Durham University Orchestral Society

A performance of selected works from Handel’s much loved Coronation Anthems, followed by one of Mozart’s more rarely performed works; the majestic and powerful Great Mass in C minor. The origin and purpose of this lesser known of Mozart’s works is shrouded in mystery, but it is undoubtedly a personal and profound statement about his faith, taking inspiration from the works of Handel and Bach to create something transcending his own time. To hear this work performed in the magnificent Durham Cathedral is an opportunity not to be missed.

Tickets: £15 full view, £10 restricted view, £5 students and school children.
